TELLER & CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSPECTIVE BACK PERSPECTIVE The ATB Financial Bank project was both a competition and a major assignment for the third semester of the Design Studio III course in the Architectural Technology program at NAIT. Each designed a bank to accommodate the community. I chose a café which showcases music, art, and poetry nights. The model, floor plan, and renderings were designed and drawn using Revit® with some postproduction editing in Adobe Photoshop®.

RECEPTION PERSPECTIVE

Xactly Advertising Firm was a project for the Design Studio IV course in fourth semester of the Interior Design Technology program at NAIT using a cohesive floor plan with proper circulation including furniture provided in the Staples Advantage catalogue. The overall theme I used was honeycomb with neutral colours and accents of orange tones. The perspectives and elevations were modeled using RevitÂŽ with some post-production editing in Adobe PhotoshopÂŽ.

An Indian restaurant project, Curry Vibes was the last group project for the Design Studio IV course in the last semester of the Interior Design Technology program at NAIT. The space included a bar, a buffet, a dining area, and washrooms. As a group, we allocated the parts to be designed. I was assigned the bar. The bar elevation and perspectives were modeled and rendered in RevitÂŽ with some post-production editing in Adobe PhotoshopÂŽ.

LOBBY PERSPECTIVE

The Flagstaff Redevelopment was a project for the CSC Competition held during my second year in the Interior Design Technology program at NAIT. It was an extra-curricular, interdisciplinary, competition project by Capital Region Housing for NAIT students consisting of multi-program teams from at least one student in the Interior Design Technology, Architectural Technology, Alternative Energy, and Landscape Architectural Technology. Each team had to design a cohesive, innovative, and sustainable multi-residential complex. These interior perspectives were modeled and rendered using RevitÂŽ with some post-production editing in Adobe PhotoshopÂŽ.

The concept word for the proposed ATB Financial Bank, located in the Quarters District in Edmonton, is “Embrace.” Embrace could be defined as hugging or as acceptance. In this case, the latter definition perfectly fits the project as it could state as ATB embracing or accepting the community. Of course, the acceptance does not have to come solely from ATB, it could also go the other way around such as the community accepting ATB, or the community accepting the community. To delve further, it could be defined as the embracement of: the co-existence of the old with the new; the diversity of the community in age, race, culture, and interests; and the distinctiveness of their own selves from others.

The CSC Competition sketches were for the preliminary stages of the Flagstaff Redevelopment project by Capital Region Housing. The renderings were printed using wireframe perspectives modeled in Revit® and then hand rendered.

D S N G N I HA R E D N RE

The orange walls shown on the drawings are rammed earth walls. The Acorn House sketch was a free-hand rendering of the scale model for the Thinktuary project situated in Japan overlooking Mount Fuji.

CSC COMPETITION: CORRIDOR PERSPECTIVE SKETCH

SKELETON FRAME Thinktuary was the last project for the design class in first semester of both the Interior Design Technology and Architectural Technology programs. The goal was to make a scale model of a thinking and creating space meant for an inspirational person. The person I picked was Hayao Miyazaki, a Japanese film director, producer, screenwriter, animator, author, and manga artist. Some of the films he created are Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Porco Rosso, My Neighbor Totoro, etc.
