1. What is International Marine Almanac? The International Marine Almanac is an interactive catalogue that informs the potential buyer for choices in R.I.Bs, recreational boats, yachts (<60 feet) and all marine engines. There are thousands of available links, just a click or touch away which will lead you directly to the source of information you are looking for. IMA is a "live" and "interactive" magazine which will be continuously updated and shall be renewed 3 times a year. The catalogue will be in two different forms: - free readable and downloadable PDF form via the issuu.com platform or - an application from Apple iOS App Store with an annual fee of $14.99 for anyone who wants additional information.

2. Our Philosophy

Information, information and information... Our aim is International Marine Almanac to be the "professional advisor" for every potential buyer in order to take the right decision and action, focusing on what really matters, the exact time he decides to purchase a boat or yacht. What we want, is to create a useful tool, a catalogue that can be used any time on your desktop, laptop or tablet. According to our calculations, a catalogue of this size would not be practical or convenient to exist as a hard copy. The logical and fashionable solution is the creation of a catalogue in a digital form. Today's technology allow us to offer so much more to the reader through an online magazine or application (photos, videos, free updates etc). 488 years ago, the ancestor of our Editor in chief, Giorgio Varino who didnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t have the luxury of today's technology, created a dictionary of 900 pages. Due to its size, it was readable only in specific libraries. Our experience of almost half a millennium, created an unbelievably functional catalogue.

Issuu.com option.

Issuu is an online service that allows the realistic and customizable viewing of digitally uploaded material such as portfolios, books, magazines, newspapers, and other printed media. It is integrated with social networking sites to promote uploaded material. Issuu's service is comparable to what Flickr does for photo-sharing, and what YouTube does for video-sharing. While most of the documents are meant to be viewed online, some can be downloaded and saved as well. Uploaded print material is viewed through a web browser and is made to look like a printed publication with an animated page flip option. The company was founded in 2006 and the service launched in December 2007. Issuu was selected as one of TIME's 50 Best Websites 2006 and was a 2009 Webby Awards Honoree and a 2008 South By Southwest finalist. Notable Issuu clients include Routledge, The World Bank and Cambridge University Press. In December 2008 Issuu released Smart Look, which allows other websites to convert their hosted documents into digital Issuu editions, so readers do not have to download the documents to read them.

Apple iOS App Store Form.

The Apple/iOS App Store is a digital application distribution platform for iOS developed and maintained by Apple. The service allows users to browse and download applications from the iTunes Store that were developed with the iOS SDK or Mac SDK and published through Apple, Inc. Depending on the application, they are available either for free or at a cost. The applications can be downloaded directly to a target device, or downloaded onto a PC or Mac via iTunes. 30% of revenue from the store go to Apple, and 70% go to the creator of the app. As of January 18th, 2011, the App Store had over 9.9 billion downloads, as announced via the company's "10 Billion App Countdown". In 2012 approximately 50.000.000 iPads will be sold worldwide. Our potential readership target with coverage 1% is 500,000 visitors. We have a rich history in publications. In 1523 the ancestor of our CEO, Varino Favorino published a monumental 900-page catalogue in Rome: The “Etymologicum Magnum, Sive Thesaurus Universae Linguae Graecae ex Multis Variisque Autoribus Collectus”. It was the first dictionary of Greek language which was the commercial language of Byzantine Empire relevant to today's English language. It was an astonishing achievement at the time. In 1801 the Varino’s Lexicon - a new 734- page edition was published in Venice one more time with a new name: Dictionarium Magnum ac Perutile Varini Phavorini Camertis Nucerini Episcopi with the help of a major sponsor, Ekaterina Alexeeva best known as Catherine The Great, Empress of Russia. After the decease of Varino Favorino, the Varino family moved from central Italy to Constantinople (Istanbul) which was the political, technological and cultural center of the world. After the conquest of Byzantine Empire by the Ottomans, Varino family moved to Greece. 488 years later, Giorgio Varino is still in the publishing business. After a 20-year career in the Automotive Press, he founded a Publishing Company in Greece and published Bestever Magazine, Luxury Boat & SUV and the Sea World Almanac. After a decade in Greece he moved the company to Cyprus and with the cooperation of Kansevelli Enterprises Ltd moved ahead into International Publications. The era of printed magazines has elapsed. Online publications in digital format with extensive media is the future of publications. Once again we (as a family) are using the available technology and resources for the creation of a monumental catalogue. And this time it is not a dictionary but the unique International Marine Almanac.
