Tuition

Course cancellations

Amounts are per semester hour for Summer and Fall 2017

In most cases, if fewer than 12 students enroll in a course, the course may be canceled. The college will make every attempt to notify students in advance of cancellations. A student who enrolled in a canceled course will receive a 100 percent refund of tuition and fees for the canceled course.

KCC district residents.......................................................$147 ($134 tuition, $13 fees) Residents 60 & older......................................................... $13 *Non-district Illinois residents....................................$314.72 ($134 tuition, $13 fees and $167.72 nonresident fee.)   Laboratory/course fees are additional. The cost of each course, including tuition and fees is noted in each course listing.   KCC reserves the right to change incidental fees and tuition without notice.   Senior citizens (60 years of age or older) residing in Illinois will not be assessed any tuition for credit division courses provided sufficient tuition-paying students are enrolled in the class to cover the cost of offering it. Senior citizens will be assessed a $13 fee for each credit hour plus any required course fees.   *A resident of KCC District 520 who wants to pursue a certificate or occupational degree program not available at KCC may apply for a chargeback if he/she plans to attend another public community college in Illinois which offers that program, given that KCC does not have a cooperative agreement for the program with another college. Applicants should file a chargeback request with KCC at least 30 days before the beginning of the semester. If the application is approved, the student is entitled to support for the out-of-district tuition for major courses in his/her program as well as any orientation courses required by the college the student is attending. Please phone 815-802-8500 for more details.   Non-residents should petition their local community college for assistance with KCC programs.   Those residing outside of Illinois should call 815-802-8140 for tuition and enrollment information.

No withdrawals will be accepted over the telephone. All withdrawal requests must be in writing and signed and dated by the student.   If a withdrawal is sent by mail, the letter must be postmarked on or before the deadline.   Questions on the withdrawal process can be answered by the Office of Admissions and Registration at 815-802-8526.

Refund policy   Students who drop a class before 10 percent of the duration of the course is complete will receive a 100 percent tuition refund. Course delivery options Students enrolled in online and hybrid courses must be prepared to read assignments, ask and answer questions, participate in discussions, and take tests online. Enrollment in online and hybrid courses requires a reliable Internet connection (a high-speed connection is preferable) and the student must have the skills to understand basic computing, email, word processing and Internet navigation. For more information regarding technology requirements, email helpdesk@kcc.edu, phone 815-802-8900, or visit www.kcc.edu/angel/. For purposes of KCC students, these are the definitions of three ways courses are delivered: Online course: All content/instruction is in an online format such as the ANGEL course management system. An online course may be completed without the student coming to KCC’s campus. There is regular and substantive interaction between students and the instructor. A pre-approved proctor may be required when taking tests/assessments. Hybrid course: Instruction/content occurs as a combination of face-to-face meetings at KCC and other (often online) means. Generally, 30 percent or more of the instruction/content is offered online or offcampus. When possible, face-to-face meeting dates are listed in the class schedule.

Most classes begin the week of Monday, Aug. 22
