Itaocaia Rock Trail swamp and wetland vegetation extending for two thousand square meters. It offers extremely valuable “environmental services,� such as groundwater recharging (feeding waterholes and springs) and flood control. The area is also a fauna and flora refuge. The urban expansion is constantly threatening this ecosystem by creating earth-filled areas and building houses.
