Travessia Vila Progresso x Serra Grande além de o início da área do parque e do Bairro do Jacaré. Do início da caminhada até esse ponto são aproximadamente 2,7 km, normalmente vencidos em menos de uma hora. Start hiking near 2,036 Estrada Caetano Monteiro. Turn onto and follow the beautiful Rua Tomaz Edson de Andrade Vieira; this street is full of big trees, such as sacred figs. Auguste Glaziou, the French landscaper, brought these trees from India and introduced them in Brazil in the second half of the nineteenth century. Proceed on this street almost to the end and turn onto the forth street on the right, Rua Brígido Tinoco; that is where the cobblestones and the ascension begin. After ascending 200 m (0.12 miles), turn left at the fork with the Açude Path. At this point, Rua Brígido Tinoco is a paved road; once it turns to cobblestones again, notice a big, 20+ m (66+ feet) cave-like hole on your right. This is the Grota Funda, an old deactivated feldspar mine located at the Serra Grande foothills. Keep ascending the road and turn left at the first intersection, right after #455. The road sharply curves right and reaches another intersection with a cement pole right in the middle. Bear right and walk on Coração da Pedra dirt road for 300 m (0.2 miles); you will be able to see the country house (#618) used by President Getúlio Vargas for weekend getaways. The road turns back into cobblestones. At the next intersection, 380 m (0.2 miles) after Sítio Coração da Pedra, turn right onto an uphill, dirt road that winds through the slope passing more country houses. Bear left at the next intersection, 420 m (0.3 miles) after the previous one. The main road becomes increasingly narrower while the vegetation gets more exuberant. Cross more country houses, one of which with a pond. At the last intersection, if you keep going straight instead of turning left, in 50 m (164 ft.) you will see a spring (pipe) on your left. This spring is constantly feeding iodine-rich water, of rare composition that is supposedly medicinal. At the main road, hike for 200 m (0.12 miles) to reach a small open area where the trail, the park, and the Jacaré neighborhood begin. From the starting point to here, you have hiked approximately 2.7 km (1.7 miles) in, usually, less than one hour. 2
Jacaré – Trilha e Estradinhas / Jacaré – Trails and Small Roads
A trilha começa após o larguinho a 180 m de altitude, segue cruzando a bela mata e contornando a encosta do morro à esquerda, de oeste para leste, sendo que nesse trecho é preciso prosseguir sempre no caminho principal, sem adentrar nas trilhas secundárias. A trilha segue levemente ascendente por 350 m e com o seu piso regular até chegar ao ponto mais alto da travessia, a 224 m de altitude. Quando começa a descer mais abruptamente, fica bastante sulcada, em razão da passagem no local de motos de Enduro, modalidade fora de estrada de motociclismo, uma atividade proibida na área do Parque Estadual da Serra da Tiririca. Daí a 640 m, saia da trilha principal e entre à direita, em um caminho pouco marcado que é a subida de uma crista (que é um outro braço da serra), até um interessante mirante. A entrada para a crista localiza-se pouco antes da trilha principal se dividir em duas, que irão em paralelo, e a poucos metros de uma curva mais fechada para a esquerda, marcada por um grande bloco de pedra à direita, no vértice dessa curva.
