37th Annual Seniors’ Christmas Light Tour Well it is that time a year again! With Christmas right around the corner it is time to enjoy smiling faces, helping others in need, and festive holiday activities. The City of Kamloops will be hosting the 37th Annual Seniors’ Christmas Light Tour on Wednesday, December 14, from 6:00 - 10:00 pm. Tis the season to help others. Any seniors participating in the event this year are asked to bring coin donations for the Food Bank. There will be collections on each bus. If you would also like to get involved and volunteer your gift of time, the City of Kamloops is hosting a volunteer meeting on Thursday, December 8 from 6:00-7:00 pm at the Tournament Capital Centre in Meeting Rooms C and D. Please confirm your attendance to the Volunteer Information Meeting to Ben Chobater, Community Development Coordinator at 250.828.3582. Do you have a beautifully lit house and would like to participate as one of the houses on the tour? The City of Kamloops is looking for additional houses on the Seniors Light Tour route this year. The seniors will also be given ballots and will be voting on the best lit house! This large scale event is expected to have over 700 seniors enjoying the Christmas lights of the city on a bus tour around town. Following the bus tour seniors will arrive at the Interior Savings Centre to enjoy Christmas carols with the Old Time Fiddlers, some Christmas treats and a hot cup of cocoa. 2012 Logo Contest Commemorate the bicentennial year of shared history between the city and the First Nations by entering the City’s logo contest. Design and submit your own logo incorporating the themes explored in the slogan: “2 Rivers, 2 Peoples, 200 Years�. The winner will receive $1,000 or the equivalent in City of Kamloops facility passes or program credits, as well as a commemorative plaque presented by the Mayor.
