Bridge and the city MgA. Ondřej Císler, Ph.D. | group work | CTU Prague | fall 2016

Bridge as a square. New element between two city parts which purpouse is

not only to connect, but to create a completely new city, new place for events, meetings, happenings thanks to which the city grows and evolves. Now it finally brings near two distinct city quarters which haven’t had nothing in common until this moment. And for highlighting this rapprochement, we created two townhall buildings of each city quarter on the ends of this square, watching each other with respect and pride. Both the same, but each has it’s frst floor adapted to the main characteristics of each city part. One youngster and business orientated, the second representing arts and crafts. Square on the other hand got new connection to the river embankments, such typical feature of Prague but which were missing at this point. That brings new life to this area and it’s citizens.

City spa block Ing. arch. Boris RedÄ?enkov | independent work | CTU Prague | spring 2016

Corner building as a new iconic feature of a square in a historical center

of a favourite spa town is a part of a newly designed block in a brownfield site. The new block was designed in a group of nine students, each of them created completely different and unique building, but all sharing the same base - city spa, connecting all buildings with a common hallway. Hostel with different types of comfort, bar with concert platform, commercial space, coworking center and most important the therapeutic part of the city spa all take place under one roof. The purpouse of the design is to bring mostly younger visitors to this part of town and show them an alternative, low cost place to stay. Thanks to that new element comes to the old town part and brings life and new opportunities back.

MycelSpace arch. Ercument Gorgul | group work | Tongji, Shanghai, China | fall 2017

Mycelium, the futuristic and innovative construction material,

is the base for our design. We create a space by double curvature walls covered in mycelium and growing mushrooms. These walls compete with the busy and artificial shopping mall environment, but comes along with the natural concept of K11. They also bring awareness of ecology, sustainability and new structural forms. By creating a new perception of a retail space, we allow people to reload energy, gain knowledge about current desinging methods and at the same moment discover a new experience.

The violet curve arch. Roberto Busnelli, arch. Daniel Kozak | group work | FADU, Buenos Aires, Argentina | spring 2018

Our project area is situated between two main city highways with heavy traffic and the

main connection between these two avenues was from the beginning the focal point to solve, including it’s underground water system. Our task was to uncover the existing water channel and expose it to the public space, free the space out of a heavy car traffic and exchange the existing metro bus system for the city tram line which will be more pedestrian zone friendly and also create a clear connection to the river La Plata. We created two possible lines, one of them is finishing in the restored park with a newly designed lake as the final focal point. The second one and the most important and the main direction of our project is stretching and creating a curve besides the renovated Geba, Velodromo to the new building of an educational center and then further up to the river La Plata where new activities were created. This whole lane is keeping more of a city nature character with bigger public squares near the three main buildings and it is accented by an alley of traditional trees, jacarandås.

House beside forest Modulora design studio | design for investors | Prague | 07/2017

House in a small village near Prague was designed to copy the hill

shape and with its materials to merge the natural enviroment around. That was also the biggest request of investors - a young IT couple with love for nordic style and minimalist but warm interiors. The house reflects the need for casualness but extraordinary in each of its details. The object of sauna was also a crucial part of the whole design, it is highlighted by different use of wooden planks and it’s vertical drop. The pent roof covered by extensive greenery has also an access by steel staircase from the west terrace. The three biggest trees on the land were kept to act like a natural statues, the house reacts on them with its views.

Tower for Brno arch. Sebastian IrarrĂĄzaval | group work | ModulArch workshop | 04/2015

Centrum building designed by architect Vladimir Karfik was made for

the famous czech shoe factory Bata. Unfortunately was due to the bad subsoil never finished but the idea of a scryscraper in Brno stayed alive. Our design of a modular tower as a vertical extension on the top of this building is based on loadbearing scafolding system. We created a grid stucture where the modules can be fitted in many different ways. Whole object works like a vertical city where each floor is a public space or street with entrances to each apartment. Rather than design a private building we extended the public space to the height and enable the view over the city of Brno to everyone. There are two towers made by moduls inside of the scufolding, one thinner and taller, another thicker and lower. This form is ispired by the old historic towers in the city. Final building looks more like an air structure with vistas than a typical highrise building. Thanks to this efemer effect the tower doesn’t compere with any historic monuments.

Refinement of Ostrava Mga. Svatopluk Sládeček | group work | Summer school of architecture | 09/2016

Ostrava. City with black history full of iron mines and connected

industry. City where number three occur so often that it cannot be an accident. Third biggest city in Czech Republic. Three exclamation marks in its famous logo. City of many different layers. Now big changes happen. Brownfields are being revitalized and reused, but there is a need for good connection around the city. Our task was to propose what to do with the plot between the new shopping and office center Karolina and the brownfield Dolní Vítkovice, which is now absolutelly cut off from the other parts of the city. Our project has a simple idea. Connection by traffic. We created an important traffic terminal in the heart of the whole area and converted the dead inaccesible place to the new growing part of the city. Thanks to the perfect connection by train, bus, tram, car, bike and by foot, the surrounding localities can also grow faster. We also propose several other things like creating new office center on the current inappropriate bus station nereby and finally, east part near the river will occupy three scyscrapers as the new symbol of Ostrava. These three towers will be used for residents, as a hotel and for other commercial purpouses.
