3G SERIES – ADAPTIVE ENCLOSURES FOR IT ENVIRONMENTS

MS Engineered Products introduces its third generation of enclosures for data applications. The convergence of the latest IT systems technologies – specifically the hardware - has created a demand for a new generation of enclosures that can effectively and efficiently house this equipment. Our new 3G enclosure systems address the most important requirements in today’s and tomorrow's IT environments. The internal enclosure environment must be self sustaining when it comes to power, thermal loads and cable management. The deployment of adaptive enclosures assures you that your system has the scalability and flexibility to change with the levels of hardware technology that drive Data Center Infrastructure Design.

I

Flexible Frame Design – designed with the ability to make optimal configuration adjustments possible within the actual physical environment of the enclosure system. Doors can mount within the frame perimeter or outside it, depending on what is required in the current build specifications. If the requirement changes, the enclosure can be re-configured – with only a few standard accessory adjustments for a completely different design application. Cable Management – Our 3G frame has options built in to effectively address ever-changing cable require-

ments. Frame features knock-outs in top section for internal cable runs. Optional vertical troughs assist in high density vertical drops that feed rack mount equipment and patch panels for data or networking. Top panels have multiple cable egress provisions for current and future design configurations. A variety of vertical and horizontal cable accessories create an internal cable management infra-structure that assures efficient cable management. Cooling – Aside from the generous 77% open pattern in our front and rear doors for optimal heat dissipation, IMS has a variety of passive and active cooling solutions for IT environments. We address the specific problems and provide highly effective solutions based on these requirements. Cool doors, server cabinet blowers, blanking panels and top panel fan trays for CRAC systems are all a part of our standard or custom solutions. Power – More advanced computing demands and the components that drive them, have increased power requirements. IMS can supply power distribution, UPS systems, smart power, environmental monitoring and custom power builds. Load Ratings – The Static load rating of the 3G Series cabinet is 3,200 lbs and the Dynamic load rating is 2,100 lbs.

“We gave it some thought so you don’t have to. Stronger by design.”

3G Features - Internal IMS Engineered Products has evolved the state of enclosures for IT hardware applications with its Third Generation of Adaptive Enclosures for IT Environments. We have taken the most requested features in the Industry and expanded on them – providing our customers with a flexible framing system that houses an ever changing internal IT environment that is safe and secure. This system and all of it’s components, have been designed and engineered from the ground up. CABLE KNOCKOUTS Frame features (4ea.) knockouts on top (sides) for inner bay cable passthru. Horizontal wiring troughs assist in cable support when using this feature.

MOUNTING CHANNELS Mounting channels are adjustable and feature a square (Universal) hole that accepts M6 mounting hardware. Channels feature a black finish with each rack unit (RU) marked in white. This allows quick location identification that speedsup equipment installation. EIA 310D compliant.

GROUNDING STUDS Frame weldment has 4 ground studs in base and 2 in top (1each in the top front & rear of frame).

FRAME PROFILE/DESIGN Frame incorporates an inner perimeter seal that optimizes airflow to servers rather than around equipment. Our new design aesthetic also gives structural support to the overall framing system.

Frame shown with power panel and power panel side struts on left side. Full length side struts shown on right side.

4

MULTI-FORM SIDE STRUTS New side strut design allows you to mount struts anywhere horizontally, front to rear, on each side of the enclosure. You can add additional struts based on your design. Flexi ring cable managers easily mount to struts for support of cable runs. CASTER BRACKETS

BASEPLATE Base plate is mounted to the inner frame flanges at the bottom of the enclosure. It provides optimal separation between interior and exterior environments - as the brush strips assist in keeping out dirt and dust while assisting in heat and pressure management.

Base of frame includes 4 caster brackets that encase the caster, protecting it from forklift blades that can damage cabinets in transportation to site deployment. Multi-formed caster brackets also enhance the base of the frame. Four leg levelers are included with each cabinet.

24” To 19” MOUNTING CHANNELS

POWER PANEL Power panels mount in rear of the frame and allow for the vertically mounting of most manufacturers power strips. Panel includes cable egress holes to assist in cable management. Power panel option provides 3" or 6" vertical panels which mounts at rear of frame. This results in minimal obstruction in rear cavity for thermal management.

Reduced width mounting channels are supplied with a black finish and white lettering for each RU. They feature an additional 2.5” on both sides of the square (Universal) hole pattern for additional cable management spacing. Grommets and dust covers are included for thermal containment when not in use. EIA 310D compliant.

DYNAMIC & STATIC LOAD RATING

Frame features a contemporary design aesthetic resulting in structurally significant load ratings. The following Static and Dynamic load ratings have been applied as tested and approved from an outside accredited testing lab. Static Load Rating – 3,200 lbs. Dynamic Load Rating – 2,100 lbs.

Frame load ratings are NOT dependent on side panels, doors or other components for structural support.

3G Features - External The convergence of the latest IT technologies comes together in the ENCLOSURE – specifically the frame. Aesthetics now drive the current Data Centers as they need to be functional –yet contemporary and aesthetically pleasing. IMS has created the 3G Series to meet this demand. The profile of the frame is softer and the doors have a beveled design to reflect this trend. The external features shown on the next 2 pages cover the frame and expand it’s aesthetically pleasing design. CURVED SCREEN DOORS Curved doors provide a new radius design aesthetic that features a 77% open pattern for optimal heat dissipation. Doors have the same swing handle and reversable hinges as the beveled door.

REAR FRENCH DOORS French screened doors are standard on this series cabinet, to decrease door swing radius. This reduced swing radius, decreases the depth between rows, allowing additional cabinets to be deployed and increasing Data Center design efficiency. They feature a 77% open pattern for heat dissipation into “Hot” aisles. Swing handle, 3 point latch and keyed lock are included.

BEVELED DOOR HANDLE/HINGE Doors feature a 77% open pattern, providing optimal airflow and heat dissipation. Beveled doors are reversible (LH/RH) and feature easy on/off spring pin hinges. Swing handle, w/ keyed lock included.

77% VENT OPENING Doors feature a 77% open pattern, providing optimal airflow and heat dissipation. This ventilation design exceeds airflow requirements for major server manufacturers.

6

SIDE PANEL Panels function as baffle OR side panels and can be used between joined frames for thermal management. Easy-on and off side panels have a spring type finger latch, that slides to open or close, holding the panel in place. Locks are standard on all side panels. Locks can be ordered keyed alike or separately per the customers specific design requirements. (Keyed separately is an option and quoted upon request.)

TOP PANEL Top panel is solid and has 8 ea. (10 ea for 48" depth consoles) cable egress points with plastic grommets and cover plates located around the perimeter of the panel. This optimal egress design was configured to handle most cabling requirements.

* BLANKING PANEL Blanking panels are tool-less and cover the unused rack units in the front panel opening space of the server cabinet. This quick and easy accessory supplies 1/4 turn twist lock hardware with 16 ga. CRS enclosure panels for simple installation. Blanking panels support efficient use of air intake by servers to cool front to rear. When combined with server blowers they are extremely efficient and cost effective resources to manage cold air distribution to server cabinets.

* EXTERNAL CABLE TROUGH Vertical cable troughs are available in a 6" width with an overall depth of 10". Troughs run vertically on the side of the frame, and can be mounted front, rear or both. This accessory provides an optimal raceway for cable bundles and drops. Front doors provide easy access, while cut-outs in troughs supply pass thru egress for patch panels. Grommets are included for side to side cable egress holes and side panels are available to finish off end bays. * TROUGH

* CABLE WIRING SPACER KIT Cable Wiring Spacer Kit – Kit includes a full length bottom spacer bracket that accepts a full length cover panel with finger pull in center. System provides easy on/off access to cabling or power mounted between two cabinets. Cable troughs, spacer panels or cable wiring spacer kits are be used in pairs or mixed and matched ( 2 per side) to achieve necessary application/design requirements.

SPACER PANEL One spacer panel is required when one external vertical cable trough or cable wiring spacer kit is implemented in console design. Spacer panel can be used between two frames or at the end of a console row with a trough side panel. See page 19 in this catalog for application reference.

Cooling – Solutions Today’s trend in blade servers and densely packaged enclosures creates larger demands in power distribution and cabling. The sum of all these variables is the unwanted, damaging effects of higher heat loads – which can significantly reduce computing performance. (Slower computing speeds and equipment failure). IMS addresses these concerns by supplying solutions specific to the cooling requirement. We provide standard and custom solutions for Enclosure heat dissipation.

HOT/COLD AISLE DESIGN Level One – Passive Passive approach to heat dissipation for server cabinets • Beveled Screened Front Door (77% open pattern) • French Screened Rear Door (77% open pattern) • Blanking Panels for unused RU in front panel opening. Level Two – Enhanced Passive Enhanced approach to heat dissipation for server cabinets • Beveled Screened Front Door (77% open pattern) • French Screened Rear Door (77% open pattern) • Server Cabinet Blower (15Degree drop in cabinet temp) • Blanking Panels for unused RU in front panel opening. Note: Option of 200 or 400 cfm Fan Panels for Rear Doors

Our research – conducted with outside thermal engineering resources have provided us with data necessary to develop our Level 3 - Active Thermal Design. High density thermal solutions require that the additional heat be dissipated thru the rear of the enclosure, by either a fan door or rooftop fan tray. The fan tray works by exhausting the hot air from the rear of the enclosure into the CRAC unit for re-conditioning and distribution, while the fan door exhausts the hot air directly into the “Hot” aisle. We work with Case 1 – Lower Installation with Full Heat Load our customers so that their consoles are thermally efficient – as single bay consoles or room encompassing systems.
