The 50 MW Tororo Solar Power Plant stands as a symbol of this commitment, illuminating homes and businesses with clean, green energy. In remote villages, countless off-grid solar projects empower communities, granting them independence from unsustainable and expensive alternatives. Children can now study under the warm glow of solar lamps, and businesses can flourish due to reliable energy, all while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Greening the Gold Fields: From the fertile plains of the north to the rolling hills of the west, Ugandan farmers are rewriting the playbook of agriculture. Their weapon of choice? Climate-smart practices that nurture the land and combat the ever-changing climate. Agroforestry, a revolutionary technique that integrates trees into crop production, is taking root across the country. These leafy sentinels not only boost yields by providing shade and enriching the soil but also sequester carbon, playing a crucial role in mitigating climate change. Water harvesting techniques like terracing and rainwater tanks equip farmers to weather prolonged droughts, ensuring food security even when the rains fail.
