Much of the Lodge maintenance is sub contracted to a local enterprise to help encourage small business skills within the local community. The Lodge hires local labour wherever possible and provides them with the necessary training. Lodge Accommodation Activities Social & Environmental Responsibilities Contact Directions

A levy of $10 per lodging guest plus $3.00 per camping guest is paid to our Community Trust (started by the founders of KaingU). This money is used on projects which benefit the local community and also the Park itself. The Lodge was intimately involved in the construction of a local school. Ongoing support is also provided, by paying a teacher’s salary, as well as providing books, pens and other necessities through charitable donations.

KaingU Safari Lodge has been designed and built to minimize the impact on the local environment. Maximum use has been made of existing trees, rocky outcrops and topographical features to blend in with its surroundings and reduce any impact on the unique landscape. The Lodge is entirely powered by solar energy, with power, lighting and water reticulation all powered by solar panels. The lodge has an installed capacity of over 6,000watts of solar power generation! Lodge Accommodation Activities Social & Environmental Responsibilities Contact Directions

Poaching is still one of the Kafue NP's major challenges. Its enormous size, limited accessibility and little funding are the stumbling blocks. At the beginning of the season all lodge operators of the area met to discuss the way forward. >>> Lodge Accommodation Activities Social & Environmental Responsibilities Contact Directions

> With 'Game Rangers International' as the implementing body carrying out the aims of the 'Kafue Conservation Society' capable organisations have formed and every operator has agreed to raise funds by an additional bednight levy of 5USD. This levy supports directly the work of two specialist antipoaching teams so guests can be assured of a direct link between their stay and poaching reduction.

“We loved the camp. It had the true Zambia bush camp feel – simple, charming, well thought through and very in tune with the bush. The detail was exceptional – always understated, natural. We really enjoyed the food which was not overwhelming as it can be at camps. The location is exceptional – and enhanced by the great deck. I so love to eat under the trees.” Jo & Robin Pope, 2014

“We had a super stay – as I am sure you saw – and it really did exceed all expectations. My sons loved their stay – rated as one of the best lodges by them – thank you for all the extra care you took of them and special children‟s activities planned. Probably a first for me – many lodges say they are children friendly – but you really go the extra mile. The food was excellent, your staff are great. We overall loved the lodge.” Emma Seaman, 2014

“The stay in your lodge was wonderful. Your „Welcome in paradise‟ is telling the truth. Your boat trips, breakfast on an island, game drives, sunset and dinner on the rock, bushwalk and all the surprises were fantastic. Your warm welcome made us feel not as guests, but rather at home.” Ineke & Jan Bliek, 2013

“From our twilight entrance by boat to the sunrise departure, our trip to Kafue has been nothing short of amazing.” “KaingU – a special place to rediscover, to simplify, to bond. We came as strangers and left as friends.” Gerry & Dave Broughton, 2013

“This place is beautiful, a true wilderness. We had a wonderful game drive with 14 wilddogs, hartebeest, roan, kudu and buffalo all in one afternoon! Wendy & Brian Hogarth , 2013

“Stunning location; wonderful camp; great staff; Zambian friendship and simply breathtaking environment. How do they cook food as good as that? Anne & Peter Stanford, 2013

“Exceptional service and attention to detail. Like a magic carpet ride down the Kafue. Delicious food, outstanding guide who was extremely informative and fun. Lesley & Alistair Stobart, 2014
