A jazz band of established jazz musicians who are crazy about fly fishing is touring the world, making a documentary as they go.

The Jazz & Fly Fishing film team documents the story as it moves along. Season One was shot in 2009 and is in post production for tv-series and retail DVD/Bluray. Footage from up coming and ongoing trips are also viewable on jazzandflyfishing.com all time, as the project goes forward.
Jazz & Fly fishing´s debut album “Slow Walking Water” will be released in February 2011 on the renowned Norwegian label Bolage. Expect some fresh, new jazz music, and original compositions only.
Tour blog at www.jazzandflyfishing.com is steadily growing, and becoming one of the biggest outdoor-related blogs in the Nordic countries. It also has a growing following in the US & UK, as well as in central Europe and in Australia & New Zealand. Recognized as one of Norway’s finest jazz guitarists, Håvard works with a number of bands, most notably Håvard Stubø Quartet w/ Knut Riisnæs, Torbjörn Zetterberg & Håkon M. Johansen, JUPITER featuring Jonas Kullhammar, and NAMEK w/ Isak Gjertsen. Has worked with many great musicians, like Tomasz Stanko, Jimmy Owens and Arve Henriksen, and is also an accomplished composer.Håvard got his first real fly rod at the age of 7. Since then, he has spent an obscene amount of time in the northern parts of Norway, Sweden and Finland, hunting for big arctic char and brown trout. One of Finland’s leading young pianists, Joona Toivanen has been frequently touring with his trio in Europe, Asia and Australia. Having recorded for international labels such as Blue Note and CAM Jazz, the trio has released four critic-praised albums. Apart from his trio and Jazz & Fly Fishing Joona also is a member of Anders Hagberg Quartet. Joona has a composed for various jazz and chamber music ensembles. Joona has had a passion to fishing since he was a kid. He has been fly fishing since the age of 15 and is today a devoted fly fisher. Best brown trout: 3,350 kg (small caddis nymph)

Fredrik is one of Swedenâ€™s finest and most creative drummers, and has been seen in many constellations both live and in studio. He has been working with artists such as Timbuktu, Fredrik Ljungkvist, Mystos Hot Lips and Key Marcello. His interest into fishing started already in his childhood and today Fredrik is a very skilled and passionate fly fisher. Best brown trout: 2,2 kg (big slimy streamer)
Also a member of the Joona Toivanen trio. Tapani is one of Finland’s finest young bass players and a leader of several jazz groups that he also composes for. Tapani started fishing together with his bigger brother Joona and has been fly fishing since his teens. Tapani and Joona have successfully combined touring with fishing in Northern Finland, Norway and Australia. Best brown trout 2,5 kg (dry fly)
THE DOCUMENTARY season one
The material from 2009 is edited to a documentary series “Jazz & Fly Fishing Season One”. It’s produced by Finnish production company Unifilm Ltd. Spoken language is english. The documentary deals with all aspects of the life of a globe-trotting jazz fly fisherman: The road, the grind, the friendship, the arguments, the success, the lack of success, the exhaustion, the ecstasy, the stupid stuff, the ugly stuff and the beautiful stuff. It´s all there, presented with warmth, some decency and a sense of humour.
