How we are doing it: Until mid September, the project coordinator will be collecting ideas and proposals from all those intending to facilitate residents’ access to information on Katowice. November will see the launch of workshops as part of which an interdisciplinary team of analysts and designers, supervised by information design specialists, will start work on the data collected.
NGO representatives will consult the work of the project team in order to find the best solutions for particular tasks and problems. In November we will launch a special exhibition to present the outcomes achieved in the pilot phase of the project and a website displaying a selection of Katowice related infographics.
What data we want to gather: â€˘ various large databases on the city, â€˘ information on complex decision making processes in the city, â€˘ information on services/projects eligible for amendment and/ or improvement.
Prof. Krzysztof Lenk Krzysztof Lenk is an accomplished designer and an acknowledged expert of information design. He is a graduate of the Katowice Branch of Krakowâ€™s Academy of Fine Arts and Professor Emeritus at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, US. Lenk co-created Dynamic Diagrams, a pioneering studio dedicated to digital publication design, which delivered projects
for the likes of MIT, HP and World Health Organisation. A prolific publicist and critic, he has authored many articles on various aspects of design. Lenk is also a dedicated university lecturer and inspiring figure to many internationally acclaimed designers. In 2011, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice.
Krzysztof Trzewiczek Krzysztof Trzewiczek is a musician, artist, creator of software for government openness applications and designer, specialising in user interfaces, data handling and visualisation. He has long been involved in software programming
workshops for artists and NGOs as well as creating interactive systems for theatre and live electronics music software. Trzewiczek is an ardent advocate of culture and software openness.
