STOUT OFFENSIVE LINE

• Since 1990, the Cats have protected a halftime lead in 173 of its 178 (.972) games when leading at the half. • K-State has won 47 straight games when leading at the half, which is currently the longest active streak in the country. • The Wildcats opened 2014 with the third-longest active streak until Oregon saw a 63-game streak end earlier this year and Oklahoma had a 48-game streak end on the final day of the regular season.

• K-State’s three returning offensive line starters from a year ago are all seasoned veterans as B.J. Finney (center), Cody Whitehair (left tackle) and Boston Stiverson (left guard) have combined for 106 career starts. • Finney has started 51 straight games - including the last 50 at center - and currently ranks second nationally in most consecutive starts. • Finney is a three-time Rimington Trophy candidate and was a finalist for the award this season.

• With nine games with 400 or more yards of total offense, K-State is tracking toward top-five stats in school history in both total offense and total offense per game. • The Wildcats are averaging 426.0 yards per game, which currently ranks third in school history, while their 5,112 yards of total offense ranks seventh. • K-State had one of the best single-game performances under Bill Snyder in its 45-13 win over Texas Tech when the Cats totaled 535 yards, the most since the 2008 Oklahoma game and the most since Snyder’s return in 2009. • The performance was the best for a Snyder-led team since gaining 658 in the 2005 North Texas game.

• K-State has been successful on 52-of-58 red zone chances this year, including a streak of 12 straight to open the 2014 season. • The Wildcats were one of 15 teams nationally to be perfect on 10 or more attempts through week three. • Dating back to 2011, the Wildcats have scored 211 times in their last 237 trips (.890) to the red zone. Of the 211 scores since 2011, 160 have been touchdowns. • In their last 30 wins dating back to 2011, the Cats are 140-for-161 in red zone chances with 106 touchdowns, while five of their non-scoring trips have come via kneel downs to close out victories.

• The new single-season total offensive yards leader in KState history, Jake Waters enters the Valero Alamo Bowl with 3,634 yards this season. He broke the previous record of 3,592 yards held by Michael Bishop in 1998, who finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting that season. • Waters has topped the 270-yard mark in total offense in eight of the 12 record season games. • At West Virginia, he had 413 yards of total offense to rank sixth in school history, while he had the rare distinction of totaling more offensive yards than the team total (401). • Waters also had 395 yards (290 pass/105 rush) against Texas Tech, which is now tied for 10th in school history.

• A year after finishing 13th nationally in third down conversion percentage, K-State has gone 73-of-156 (.468) on third downs to rank 18th nationally in 2014. • The Cats have been especially good in the fourth quarter, converting 23-of-41 (.561) third down attempts, while they have put themselves in a position in earlier downs as they are 30-of-45 (.667) when needing one to three yards.

• Jake Waters has put together one of the best careers in school history in terms of accuracy. • Waters has amassed a 157.39 career passing efficiency rating, which is currently the top mark in school history. • In addition, Waters has completed 390-of-609 career passes for a 64.04 percentage, which is also tops in K-State history among quarterbacks with at least 400 attempts. • Waters’ completion percentage of 66.19 this season is also the top mark, while his 157.79 efficiency rating in 2014 ranks second.
