Silverwing By Kenneth Oppel Book Response By Justin Powell In book club, I read a very good adventure book called Silverwing. Silverwing is about a bat named Shade and his colony, Silverwing. Shade and his colony were going to hibernate at a place called “Hibernaculum”, but he was blown away in a storm. Shade then meets a bat named Marina. Marina has a mysterious silver band that other bats also have, including Shades long lost father. He and Marina start a journey to go back to the other Silverwings, but Shade only has one clue, a map that is a riddle. Marina and Shade go through many dangers together including; running away from pigeons, almost being killed by owls and meeting carnivorous bats named Goth and Throbb. Shade meets other bats that have bands, but the banded bats say a different thing about the bands. Shade and Marina will need to now as much as they can about the map, but it is too hard just to know what the map means. Will the two of them reach the Silverwing colony safely or will they never see Shade’s beloved colony? I liked this book because this story was an adventure book and I like adventure stories. Also I liked this story because the reader ended in a really good part, so it made me want to read the next book. I think this is a good book for readers who like adventure stories.
