01 INTRO About Lean Product Development The goal of Lean Production is to minimize waste, launch and gain profit

as soon as possible. It was first originated from the Toyota Production System. This method helped Toyota become the world's largest car manufacturer.

Lean Product Developement, aka LPD, adopt this concept into product

development, shorten development cycle, improve efficiency and quality and further reduce cost.

Through extensive prior investigation and analysis, user observation and interview, tools such as mind maps and A3 reports, significantly increase

efficiency and product persuasiveness. After all the study was completed,

Then we started drawing sketches and 3D modeling, eventually moved into creating the final product.

This is a co-working project with my teammate Sam Lin. The goal of it is learning how lean product development works. What we do is picking an existing product, and see if we can try to improve it and make some innovation. The topic we choose is car polisher.

Custommer values Analysis Base on the test result, we listed 13 customer values, and asked user to rank them from 0~10 base on importance and satisfaction. The result was

turned into the graph below. Costumer values with higher importance but lower satisfaction would be our main focus.

Target Market & Design Solutions Targeting market is general small family, usually have a car or scooter. Typically wash their car once or twice per month. And willing to pay up to NTD 2000 for a car polisher. Final design solutions are : 1. Reduce vibration, by adding some gaskets or springs.

2. Change its turn on mechanism from button to switch, lengthen the wire. 3. Keep dual handle design, improve ergonomic.

4. Two sizes replaceable polishing disc, attach using velcro.

Dual handle design, stable and easy to control. Two sizes replaceable polish discs, mounted using velcro. Vibration absorbing system. Reduce vibration transfered to your hands. Turn on using normal switch, won’t be as easy to be pressed accidentally.

URE URES Dual Handle Design One in front and another in the back, with 90 degree orient, has the best stability base on our research. Also add some sponge texture for better grip.

Vibration Absorbing System Without changing the original motor, Just by adding some additional springs where the screws are. Can greatly reduce the vibration transfered to your hands.

07 MODEL

Prototype & Final Model We start by using PU to make the prototype, giving us the idea of the approximate size of the product. Then we build the 3D model and print it out, assemble with some parts from the original polisher for the final working modeling.

01 RESEARCH Problem When using typical key ring, it is difficult to differentiate each key. Also it is noisy to have keys run into each other, and may scratch something else in your bag or pocket. And when it comes to put in new keys or take out old ones, it usually become a pain in the ass.
