The information contained in this packet will help you complete enrollment for the fall semester. Please look carefully at the checklist below and submit the needed items before the stated dates. Start Registration When we receive your commitment deposit you are given access to PORTAL, our online access to class registration and student finance. You will receive an email with a link to begin the process of creating the username and password to access PORTAL. Once you have logged into PORTAL, just click registration and select the term you wish to register for. There are seven steps to complete registration, starting with the selection of classes and ending with your payment. If you have questions regarding this process, call Rahneeka Hazelton at 817-202-6733. Financial Aid Student Financial Services office hours: 8 am–5 pm Monday to Thursday, and 8 am–2 pm on Friday Special hours: Sunday, August 20, 2017: 8 am–6 pm If you have completed the FAFSA and have not yet received an Award Notification from Southwestern, you can look on your PORTAL (you must be deposited to have access) under Student Finance > FinAid Requirements to see what documentation you are missing. If you haven’t done so already, complete your FAFSA. Our school code is 003619. Texas Residents only: Complete and submit to Southwestern the enclosed Texas residency form if you are or will be a graduate of a high school in Texas.

Planning to work on campus? Looking for flexible hours and no commute? Here is what you need to do: • Go to jobs.swau.edu to see job listings. This website also lists the original forms of identification that you need to bring with you to complete the I-9 form, which enables you to work on campus

Be musical—music from Abramsky to Zollner Southwestern has many different music groups, including the University Singers, University Choraliers, Saxophone Jazz Ensemble, String Quartet and the Southwestern Orchestra. You don’t have to be a music major to join, however most require an audition. Private lessons are also offered. To audition for any of the music groups please contact Jonathan Wall, jwall@swau.edu.


Additional Services for our Students Honors Program Is the Honors Program just more work? Not at Southwestern. Our Honors Program offers a stimulatingly different approach to learning. It is not the academic equivalent of boot camp with extra push-ups! It is designed for well-prepared students who seek a new challenge, relish discussion, and want to engage important ideas. Our courses often transcend disciplinary lines: a mathematician and an historian, for example, might lead out in the examination of a classic religious test. Honors students also have the opportunity for summer study abroad. A recent trip studied the Roman Empire and early Christianity in Italy, visiting sites ranging from Rome to Pompeii. Each honors graduate designs a special research project, completed in the senior year. The Write Spot Students with unfinished drafts, writing questions, need for documentation help, and need for motivation to finish those assignments are welcome to take advantage of the writing tutors that are provided to assist them. Schedules are posted at the beginning of each semester. Get that A!

CASA The Center for Academic Success and Advising (CASA) supports all students by providing guidance in the exploration of life skills, and educational goals. A wide range of tutoring services, specialty workshops, and strategies to cope with college are provided. CASA works in partnership with our students to ensure they are equipped with the necessary resources, and information needed to become successful as they progress toward graduation.
