What are we talking about here? Well, I had an idea about two-and-a-half years ago that I was going to start working to the office. At that point in time, I lived about eight-and-a-half miles from my office. It took about two hours and twenty minutes to get there. It was great. I felt great doing it. At that point in time, I didnâ€™t have a lot of free time to do, or I thought that I didnâ€™t have a lot of free time.
Here is how it was rationalized. My normal commute was a little bit over an hour. It took about an hour and a half to do the normal commute. I guessed if I spend another hour, I’m going to get some exercise, two hours and 20 minutes exercise. If you’re walking, walking has huge benefits. It has huge benefits both mentally and physically, but what it did for me is actually create an expansion of time. That’s not actually what I am talking about here. When I share that with people. they think it’s abnormal. I started doing it again. Now, I’m a little closer to the office. I’m 6.2 miles away now, so it’s about an hour and 45 minute walk to get there now. I started doing it about 45 days ago, tried it out again, and started. I found that I actually loved it. Any day that I go to the office, I could walk to the office. I wound up getting there with a pretty clear head and it’s just something that actually gets done. I still share with people. It’s an everyday normal part of life. People look at me like I have two heads. It’s funny, now it’s just who I am. It’s part of what I do, but it’s still something that’s abnormal for the actual public. Thirty days ago, it was something that was abnormal for me. The point is, when the abnormal starts becoming the normal for you, that’s when you’re actually heading in the right direction towards reaching your goals. It comes first, being willing to stand out there, getting creative, and doing a little bit more to get what you actually want to get to and being on a constant path of
doing a little bit more, and doing it a little bit better, and doing it a little bit greater. That’s when life starts to take off. That’s when life starts to get exciting. I look at my life today versus my life 90 days ago. It’s so much more exciting and so much more fun because it’s taking on those projects that a little bit abnormal, but they actually become normal and become a part of who we are.
