•BIRMINGHAM BARONS• During my time with the Birmingham Barons I held many different responsibilities and added many new aspects to the organization. As the operations intern, I assisted in off-season uptake of the stadium including general maintenance and upgrades when necessary. During the season I worked with the grounds crew on a daily basis ti help aid in field prep. Also worked with cleaning crew to ensure cleanliness of Regions Park in preparation for Barons and SEC Baseball Tournament. Responsible for daily suite and gate lock up of stadium; along with the set up of party areas for multiple group outings. Assisted in the management of parking lot when needed. Also handled merchandise orders, ticket orders, on-field promotions and numerous other duties. In addition to the daily duties as operation intern, I created a Barons’ Facebook and Twitter pages along with various print items. I also assisted in making appearances throughout the community alongside and as Barons mascot Babe Ruff. Mascot appearances included local schools, churches, hospitals, and little leagues, and roaming the downtown streets of Birmingham during the lunch hour. I was apart of three major events during the season; including the SEC Baseball Tournament, Rickwood Classic, and the Southern League Home Run Derby & All Star Game.

Distributed information to local allergy clinics to get the word out about Peanut Free Night. Purpose of the night is to allow those with peanut related allergies a chance to see a baseball game in person without the worry. Also sold 500 general admission tickets to Alabama Allergy Clinic, which they in turn distributed to their patients.
We have banished all peanuts from Regions Park for one night only! If you hate peanuts, even things that have just touched peanuts, you wonâ€™t find them here on this night.

Created Barons Twitter page. Page was used to give fans instant updates such as game scores, rain delays, and upcoming promotions. Twitter was used in conjunction with Facebook page to maintain a consistent message.
I was the sole individual that managed all aspects of the Barons’ online store. I cataloged, photographed, edited, and uploaded all products to the store’s site. I handled the entire order process; beginning with receiving, processing/shipping orders, and ending with the collection of payment.

The Thirsty Thursday promotion is the biggest promotion of the Birmingham Barons. The main draw of the night is the $1 draft beer served during the game. The entire staff is stretched very thin on these nights. A normal night may draw a crowd of 500-2,000 fans. A Thirsty Thursday normally draws 5,000-8,000 fans. My duties during a normal Thirsty Thursday would consist of: -Pre game walk through with cleaning crew. -Pre-game lock up of Regions Park. -Begin the night selling parking in the lot. -Next I would either sell walk-up tickets or help in will call. -Next I would help in ID checking. -If any beer lines were extremely long I would help where needed. -After the 6th inning or 9 PM I would cut service of alcohol at a concession stand. -Once done there I would open the first base gate where I would monitor fans exiting to make sure no one left with alcohol. -Once the parking lot was semi-empty we would begin picking up all parking cones. -Lastly once everyone had exited, I would perform the post game lockup which consisted of securing all gates, locking suites, and turning off all stadium & parking lot light. I would perform many of these duties on a nightly basis.

Created a group merchandise flyer for use by the group sales department. The purpose of the flyer was to give groups that came out to a game a discounted rate on merchandise. Instead of simply telling about one the discount, now the group sales team can give something visual.

Inside Home Run Derby RULES 3 rounds, 10 outs per round Out: any swing that is not a home run. Round 1: • Each player will have 10 outs. • Order of hitting will be reverse order of regular season home run total, alternating by division affiliation. North first, south second. • Top 4 advance to Round 2, regardless of division. • Home runs will carry over to Round 2, tie breaker HR’s will not. Round 2: • Each player will have 10 outs. • Players in Round Two hit in reverse order of tally in Round One (player with most home runs in first round hits last). • Top 2 with highest number of home runs in Round 2 and Round 1 combined advance to Round Three. Championship Round: • Each player will have 10 outs. • Home Runs Will Not Carry Over to Championship Round. • Of the 2 finalists, hitter that hit first in Round 2 will hit first. • Player with the most HR’s during the championship round will be the Winner. In the event of a tie after each round: Each player will have 5 outs and will continue until the tie is broken after each increment of 5.
