DESCRIPTION Akira is a calligraphic typeface designed by Japanese graphic/web creative, Jun Ichiro Koyama in 2011 with a strong hope for Japan. Just as the original Western serif typefaces were evocative of calligraphic penstrokes, each letter of Akira is built from distinctive brush strokes evocative of those used in Japanese calligraphy. Akira is meant for use in a wide range of applications, from body copy to headlines to branding. This typeface is named after the designer’s father, a Japanese calligrapher.
