The Jumpstreet Way Our approach to planning class trips your community will cherish for life

t e e s r p t J um ToUrs WE ARE

Since 1989, Jumpstreet has crafted thoughtful and immersive class trips to the delight of teachers and their student groups. Our mission is to support curriculum objectives and personal growth in students with enriching educational programs in destinations across the Americas and Europe.

This document delves into who we are, what we do and how we do it, including: • The trip-planning process we’ve built on behalf of you and your community; • The itineraries and programming we’ve developed to compliment your syllabus; • The training our Tour Leaders undergo to bring out the best in your experience; • Our infrastructure of safety and support that’s second-to-none.

When taking students abroad, Jumpstreet is the tour company I first consider. Jumpstreet has always been immensely supportive every step of the way. They are consistently willing to work with our group when it comes to deadlines, payment options, special needs, and everything in between. It is clear from both student and parent feedback that the Jumpstreet experience is first rate. With amazing activities, accommodations, transportation and restaurants, their itineraries are always as enriching and safe as they are entertaining, and their tour guides are the best in the business. I’m not at all surprised that Jumpstreet is such a respected brand in the student travel industry. It’s without hesitation that I recommend Jumpstreet Tours for your school’s travel plans. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at your convenience.

Our Approach to Planning Your Class Trips Jumpstreet combines two approaches to the delivery of your class trips: the PRECISE and the PERSONALIZED. Our PRECISE approach is inherent in all our processes so that your role in the trip-planning is clear, user-friendly and respectful of your time. Whether you travel with us or not, we believe that you deserve this level of service at the very least.

Our PERSONALIZED approach is all about enriching your experience before, during and after your trip. We want to foster a culture of student travel in your community for years to come, but we can’t achieve this without creativity and a willingness to listen and adapt to your specific needs.

Our TripPlanning Process

] step-by-step ^

1 Request a quote

Our process begins with your quote request, which you can submit via our website, jumpstreet.com, or by phone at 1-800-663-4956. Your request is assigned to a Tour Consultant who specializes in planning trips for schools in your community. This trip-planning expert will send you a proposal within two business days. He/ she will be your point of contact going forward: you’ll mostly communicate by phone or email, though face-to-face meetings can be arranged.

2

Review Proposal delivered: time to review it. Your Tour Consultant will schedule a follow-up so you can ask questions and/or make adjustments. Remember: the longer you wait to tweak your itinerary, the tougher it is for us to guarantee availability and/or rates.

3 Promote

Time to promote your trip. From schoolboard approval to recruitment, we will help you hit the ground running. Organize an evening presentation with parents; distribute registration forms and information about our travel insurance options, and collect initial deposits. Your Tour Consultant can attend your meeting pending availability (we can also join via Skype).

4 Log in

Time to log in to your online portal. While you are not obliged to use this service, our online registration and payment portal will make planning a class trip an easier and more efficient experience for you. Your Tour Consultant will coach you on how to make the most of this next-generation planning resource.

Deposit

6

List

Within 30 days of booking your trip with us, we’ll require an initial deposit of $100 per paying participant for domestic trips; $350 per paying participant for overseas destinations. This is also when you’ll submit deposits for special events (like show tickets) and send us copies of your participants’ required travel documentation.

At least 75 days before your trip’s departure date, things are really starting to take shape. We’ll require a final participant list – including the details of all those who purchased insurance – a rooming list, and all details pertaining to allergies, dietary restrictions and special needs. Of course, most of this information would be captured automatically if you use your portal.

7 Finalize itinerary

At least 60 days before departure, we are finalizing your itinerary with a fine-toothed comb to ensure the smooth execution of your trip. We will also require your group’s second payment. Of course, all payments would be managed and processed automatically if you use your portal.

8 Home stretch

At least 30 days before departure, it’s the home stretch. We will work with you to ensure that the remaining balance is paid in full, which enables us to pay our suppliers. Your Tour Consultant will review your final itinerary with you and provide travel resources like packing lists and how-to guides for parents and chaperones. This would be a good time to start organizing your phone/email tree (we have a template for this if you need one).

9

The week before 7 days before departure, your Tour Consultant will schedule a call to discuss your Tour Leader (who will be accompanying you for the duration of your trip), your motorcoach operator (if applicable), your flights (if applicable), and the weather forecast; he/she will also respond to any last-minute questions or concerns. This is also when we’ll ask you for a phone number so we can reach you during your trip.

]

10 The trip!

During your trip, you’re going to have so much fun that you’ll barely remember the planning that went into it! Your Tour Leader will bring your itinerary to life and do much of the heavy lifting so that you can enjoy yourself. Pending availability, your Tour Consultant will try to meet up with you to see how things are going. If ever you need us, call us toll-free, 24/7, for a direct patch to our senior staff.

11 Follow up

5 days after your trip, your Tour Consultant will follow up with you to see how everything went, and what we can do to serve you better next year.

This gives you a general sense of our process, but you should know that we are very flexible. From last-minute requests to long-term projects, we have the expertise to help you organize a class trip you can call your own. Whatever your needs, your planning experience with Jumpstreet will be user-friendly and stress-free. You deserve nothing less.

Our Programming Whatever the destination, we work closely with you to ensure that your itinerary supports your specific curriculum requirements. From language immersion to hands-on workshops, our class trips are designed to be an extension of your classroom, not a detour from it. A specific learning outcome that we embed in all our destinations is personal growth. We specialize in taking youths out of their comfort zone and into a wholly new space, which helps them better-understand and appreciate new languages, cultures, belief systems, eating habits, and so on. After three decades of serving communities all over North America, we’ve seen countless examples of our class trips acting as a space for students to realize their potential. Our itineraries encourage independence, resourcefulness and open-mindedness. For students, just being in a major international urban center – especially without parents – prepares them to think, act and negotiate with self-awareness. Moving as a large group in a bustling, dynamic environment – on a schedule no less – encourages them to become more alert and responsive within the ebb and flow of the masses. The countless social interactions that take place during our school trips are unique to students’ daily routines and nurtures their ability to adapt, share and reason with others. In an increasingly virtual world, this may be the most important skill of all.

Our Tour Leaders Jumpstreet Tours was founded in 1989 by brothers Mark and Tom Clarke, and they continue to run the company to this day as Managing Director and Commercial Director respectively. Mark got his start in tourism as a tour guide, so it comes as no surprise that the company’s reputation is built in large part on the back of its incredible Tour Leader team. A Jumpstreet Tour Leader is a tour guide, camp counsellor, entertainer, chaperone and role model wrapped into one inspiring young person. For the most part, we recruit our Tour Leaders through both referrals within the business and job postings on university websites. To be selected for an interview, a candidate must have prior experience working with youths (camps, coaching, mentoring, etc.), must be at least 19 years old (though most of our applicants are 22 years old) and must successfully pass a police background check.

For the first screening, candidates attend one-on-one interviews, group interviews that include simulation training, and team-building activities. We look for the following qualities:

« Professional yet fun-loving « Positive and infectious energy « Confident and outgoing « Open-minded and approachable « Disciplined and forward-thinking « Resourceful and quick-thinking

1

A second screening takes place where candidates must complete 25 hours of classroom training. Then, once background checks are completed through an independent agency, a final screening unfolds with over 50 hours of practical training where candidates shadow a senior Tour Leader during a class trip. The candidates who make it through this process are hired to accompany your group 24/7 and bring your itinerary to life. As destination experts and multi-linguists, they act as an extension of your trip’s curriculum objectives. They also do much of the heavy lifting for you, such as:

« Guiding your group through the day’s activities « Helping everyone stay organized, prepared and on schedule « Assisting chaperones with head counts and bed checks « Safeguarding your group through busy streets and activity sites « Responding to emergencies and coordinating on-site support « Keeping your students engaged with stories, jokes, songs and games.

In some destinations, we rely on third-party Tour Guide agencies to help bring your trip to life.

MADELINE French Teacher, Massachusetts

TOUR leaders in the business. I spent a year traveling around Europe, as well as extensive touring in the Caribbean and United States, yet I have never been so impressed by a tour guide to the point of forwarding a comment to the company to which they are employed. Chris impressed me that much. STEPHANIE Parent, Nova Scotia

Ellie was amazing! We were so pleased with how well she interacted with our entire group, the students especially. MARY French Teacher, Maine

Our guide Joad was very flexible and helped make the trip memorable. Great information during the tours! CINDY High School Teacher, Maryland
