Julio Cesar Scremin:

He studied at the IUAV University of Venice and at the USP University of São Paulo. He graduated in Architecture in 2014 at the IUAV University of Venice under the guidance of tutors A. Aymonino and M. Ferrari with a thesis entitled: “The Art in the Favela of Rio: a open air museum“. In November 2014 he worked as a freelence for the Studio ARCHE‘ of arch. M. Stefenelli. In 2014 he was a member of the Association of Young Architects of Vicenza - VAGA. In 2013 he was an exchange student at the USP University of São Paulo. This experience has permitted his first approach with the brazilian architecture. In the same year he travellleds to Rio de Janeiro, where he began a collaboration with the Milazzo and Associados, enriching his knowledge on the methodology of design in Brazil. In 2011 he participated with a group of students at the Workshop Metropolitan in São Paulo, organized by the IUAV University and USP University, where he worked on a project for the redesign of a favela in São Paulo. In the same year the final projects were exposed in an exhibition at the Brazilian Embassy in Rome and USP University of São Paulo. In 2009 he started to work at the Studio FAV in Valdagno and, at the same time, he took up studies at the IUAV University. His interest for architecture has grown from childhood and it has led him travelling around the world. During his academic career he travelled with tutors to learn more about the European architecture and this is the main reason that persuaded him to embark on an experience abroad. In the last period his journeys are getting more frequent, especially in South America, where he visited lot of countries and he learned to speak Portuguese useful for future collaborations with the brazilian Architectural Firms.

THE ART IN THE FAVELA OF RIO: A OPEN AIR MUSEUM tutors: A. Aymonino and M. Ferrari student: J.C. Scremin Perched high on a hill, Cantagalo - Pavão Pavãozinho are favelas overlooking the scenic waterfront of Rio. These favelas are characterized by winding alleys and masses of concrete. Every day, thousands of residents of the favelas come down towards the city, where they work in homes, shops, hotels and bars. In fact, most of the wealthier inhabitants of Rio has never set foot in these favelas, but from 2008 a new and ambitious project developed by the community of the favela is trying to change that. The initiative of the NGO “Museu de Favela“ is committed to transform the favela into a tourist attraction. The project Has created a gallery of graffiti in the public spaces composition of a sequence of huge wall paintings covering twenty buildings, all made by local artists. The local community manages the museum and the cultural traditions, protecting the “culture of favela“ as something to be proud of and a story to tell to those who would never set foot there.

CELL CO-GENERATOR tutor: R. Albiero students: J.C. Scremin, G. Paccagnella, E. Zadra The main objective of the research is the study of a prototype of “ecofondaco. This prototype, as archetype, proposes to reinterpret a historic Venetian settlement system, while observing, in terms of research, the preparation of a prototype flexible and repeatable of Mediterranean culture. The ecofondaco is based, on two opposed components: permanence and impermanence. The two words together to develop an editable template which is also adaptable to different contexts located in the Mediterranean. A smart building has an integrated and tangible assets, performed with the contribution of the potential of new technologies multimediatiche and the use of sustainable construction systems.

OSPEDALETTO COMPLEX tutor: S. Rocchetto students: J.C. Scremin, G. Volpato The theme of the course is the renovation and conversion of few buildings in the area for the complex of Santa Maria dei Derelitti, wich is currently Residence Santi Giovanni e Paolo, owned by IRE. The functional purpose of the transformation involved the assignment of a part of the existing buildings to offices IRE institutional, music schools, commerce and housing. In the empty area, obtained by the demolition of new buildings with poor architectural quality, it has planned new residential and commercial buildings. Great importance has given to the new system of urban trails which can improve relations with the immediate urban context and make it more functional.

BRAZ-MALL tutor: S. Rocchetto students: J.C. Scremin, G. Paccagnella This project has been conceived by the attention to the problem of the rapid increase population in world. According From what has stated in the new report of the United Nations, we will pass from 7 billion people, currently, to 9.1 billion in 2050 and 10 billion in 2100. This trend would have serious consequences not only for a country or a region, but for the whole world. The largest growth would be mainly concentrated in emerging countries: Africa , Asia and Latin America. Our working group decided to analyze the problems that will arise in the cities of S達o Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. These two mega-cities in the coming years will be the focus of major events like the World Cup of 2014 and the Olympics in 2016, which will lead to a greater influx of people.

Private House - VI team: J.C. Scremin, G. Paccagnella The project develops the renovation of a house with two separate apartments and with the same surface. The limit area has given by the external walls of the existing building that can not be discarded as it would compromise the ratio of the distances to the surrounding buildings. The new setting has thought to develop two apartments vertically separated with floors offset from each other, which it has an impact on all elevations. At the centre of the building were placed the two fireplaces and two staircases that allow the vertical distribution of the two apartments. Outside the building were designed tents and wooden gazebo to enable better privacy of the interior of the apartments.
