Do dogs improve their owners physical health? Dogs do many things for their owners, but do dogs improve their owners physical health? Most dogs are very active and keep their owners on their feet. They would want to play, run and walk. Owning a dog is a big responsibility. Dogs love to walk. They walk all over the place. Owning a dog is a lot of work. The dog’s owner have to at least take their dog out to walk 15 minutes twice a day. It really depends on the dog breed, like more energetic dogs like to walk even more than dogs that are not so energetic. My dog is always keeping me busy. She always wants to go outside and run. She is a chihuahua so when she has energy she has tons of it, but she has a small body so all that energy wastes fast. During the time when she has energy I would take her on long walk so that when we get home, she wouldn't want to do anything. She is always bugging me about taking her outside. I feel dogs are the best way to get anyone to walk more. Dogs also reduce their owners’ stress levels. “Playing with or petting a dog can increase levels of the stress-reducing hormone oxytocin and decreases production of the stress hormone cortisol. In 2001 study, researchers found that dog-owning patients with high blood pressure could keep their blood pressure lower during times of mental stress than patients without dogs.” Sometimes kids have trouble reading to people so they read to dogs. The dogs help calm down the child and gain their confidence. The dogs also help relive all the pressure on the kid. Dogs also help with depression. Depression is a part of some people's lives, so dogs help with depression. Dogs give their owners unconditional love and acceptance. They don't care about how they look or how they smell. They love them for who they are. They will always be there no matter what. Dogs distracts their owners from their problems in life. They play with their owners and make them happy and forget what’s going on in their lives. They don't make them forget their problems forever but enough time to make them happy. Dogs help their owners in many ways they never knew their babies did. I love dogs like I can spend a whole day with them and still wouldn't be annoyed, and to find this information about how they can improve anyone's health is crazy. I mean I knew about the whole walking them thing, but the whole stress levels like wow. I learned that dogs do improve their owners physical health in many ways we never knew they did.
