A neuron...

is a specialized cell transmitting nerve impulses. A neurotransmitter is a chemical substance that is released at the end of a nerve fiber by the arrival of a nerve impulse and, by diffusing across the synapse, causes the transfer of the impulse to another nerve fiber, a muscle fiber, or some other structure.


Acetylcholine is a compound that occurs throughout the nervous system, in which it functions as a neurotransmitter.

Alzheimer’s Disease is a progressive mental deterioration due to generalized degeneration of the brain.

Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive disease of the nervous system marked by tremor, muscular rigidity, and slow, imprecise movement, chiefly affecting middle-aged and elderly people. It is associated with degeneration of the basal ganglia of the brain and a deficiency of the neurotransmitter dopamine.
