BUILDING BOVEN Holland Hospital - Boven Birth Center Renovation - Construction Update Newsletter
PROJECT MANAGEMENT UPDATE The space has really taken shape and within the next few months the finishes will make this phase feel like it is part of the hospital. On the north side, all the rooms are painted and casework is almost completely installed. The bathroom tile is looking really nice as well. To keep the construction space separate from the occupied space we had to build a temporary wall. The wall on the construction side only gives us an 18 Julie Cole-Bouwens Assistant Project Manager corridor to access two of the triage rooms. Luckily, the construction team JulieC@elzinga-volkers.com was able to deliver materials through the windows in order to get through the tight spaces. Don’t worry, this corridor is temporary and once the space is done we will demolish this wall. In addition, you may have noticed the family waiting area above the loading dock had glass installed! The team is really proud of how it turned out. The other window units above the loading dock will be replaced in the spring.
FUN FACT The city of Wuhan, China, completed a makeshift emergency hospital to treat patients infected with the coronavirus in just 10 days. The emergency medical facility is made up of two floors and has several isolation wards. It can hold up to 1,000 patients. Using pre-fabricated units was key to constructing a new building at such a fast speed.
