OBJECTIVE The objective of this project is to redesign a dorm room in Oklahoma State University’s Commons. As a group we were given the task of creating furniture pieces, a lighting fixture, and the spacial arrangement.

CONCEPT The modular wall system appears to be a drastic departure from the traditional dorm room as it reflects the changes in our rapidly developing society, which are also reflected in the college student of the 21st century. Rooms are customizable to fit a diversity of needs. Technology is integrated as seamlessly as possible to meet the increasing demands of the student of today as well as the future.

SOLUTION

Inspired by a peg board, we integrated a modular system into our dorm room design. Furniture and systems can be added and removed to the peg board wall. Our modular furniture and lighting solutions allow for occupants to make their living situation unique.

GROUP PROJECT / VOLUNTEER / SPRING 2018 S K I L L S : A u t o C A D, S k e t c h U p, E n s c a p e, P h o t o s h o p

OBJECTIVE The objective of this project is to design a renovation for a local adult daycare center in Stillwater, Oklahoma. In order for a grant to pass to provide funding for actual renovations, we were asked as students to volunteer designs for several different rooms. My team took the task of designing the music room.

CONCEPT As a large team made up of several groups, we collectively decided the overall theme should be centered around nature. Since the logo for the Life Center is a sun, it also seemed fitting to their culture. We chose the forrest as the music room’s theme because it is a location where sound is beautifully absorbed.

SOLUTION

We designed this renovation as a cozy getaway for the residents. Comfortable seating with ipad accessories will allow the users an area to rest and find music that will inspire them. A stow-away table stores all of the small instruments in a sleek compartment to allow for music lessons if needed in the middle of the room. Drums and other instruments are installed on the front wall so that the adults can have the ability to sit or stand while playing music.

OBJECTIVE The objective of this project is to design a co-working office for Oklahoma City by modeling in 1”= 1’-0” scale. The office space needs to reflect its location throughout the design. It should offer private offices, a conference room, collaboration areas, a kitchenette, a reception desk, waiting area, and phone booths. The design should stimulate productivity while providing pleasing aesthetics.

CONCEPT Working environments are changing to the new age of digital nomads. This upcoming generation seeks to find a non-traditional office that provides collaboration, solace, and inspiration. Oklahoma City is in need of a space to inspire these independent workers. Collab Co’s design seeks to create a space that provides a unique, comforting, and harmonious experience that will satisfy the needs of these civilians.

SOLUTION

Our overall goals were achieved in this design through a combination of geometric and natural elements inspired by the surrounding local environment. Taking inspiration from the Oklahoma City Bricktown canal, we were able to create this fun design. We used the colors of the water taxis and canal, as well as materials such as brick that would be found in the Bricktown area.

HAND RENDERINGS The objective of this project is to use hand rendering skills introduced in Graphics I and II to recreate a interior scene. I was given the freedom of choosing any interior scene I wanted. The key was to choose one that displayed enough contrast between light and shadow to allow more opportunity for hand rendering skills.

3D SCULPTURE

The objective of this project is to design a sculpture for Oklahoma State University’s campus. The Noble Research Center is home to many scientific educational programs, including Biochemistry, Cell Biology, and Molecular Biology. Myoglobin, a red protein found in tissue inspired the shape of this sculpture. The blue glass myoglobin is encased in a white outer shell imitating the shape of the Noble Research Building itself. The openness of the sculpture invites spectators to explore all parts of it for themselves.

OBJECTIVE The objective of this project was to enhance understanding of construction documents for a small scale commercial project. We learned how to increase skills and competency by applying architectural standards to create a set of construction documents using AutoCAD.

CONCEPT Inspired by the Mid-Century Modern style, this set of construction documents shows a reenvisioned 2,298 square ft. Elementary school library in Stillwater, Oklahoma. With modern technology and updated furniture, this space allows students and parents to use the space more efficiently.

OBJECTIVE The objective of this project is to design a 1,200 square foot store in a Stillwater shopping plaza. The retail store should coexist with the surrounding environment. The retail store should be created for a specific target market and an overall theme needs to be relevant throughout the entire design.

CONCEPT Stillwater, Oklahoma is home to 50,000 residents with a fluctuating student population. With 50% of D1 the student population being female, a need for retail spaces that appeal to them is deemed neccessary. Due to the middle class culture of Stillwater, we decided to design a space that embodies an elegant atmosphere for the customers.

SOLUTION

Inspired by some of nature’s most elegant colors: jade and gold, we sought out to design this elegant accessory store for the middle class shopper. Using subtle designs such as the continuous green stripe around the store and chevron luxury vinyl, we encouraged the customers to explore the entire space.
