1 H u n g a r i a n Ac a d e m y o f F i n e Arts Library M a g y a r K é p z ö m ü v é s z e t i E g y e t e m The Library of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts can be found on the first floor in the beautiful main building of the University on Andrássy utca, just right by the metro station Vörösmarty utca (VI. District) or a five minutes walk from Oktogon in the direction of Heroes‘ Square. Everybody enrolled as a student, guest student, teacher at the MKE or any other Universities of Budapest can borrow items if you bring your ID Card. The borrowing fee for the whole semester is 1000 Huf. In the main reading room you find lots of computers available for research, but only the two of them at the top are for guest students. If you just want to read books from the open shelfs in the library you do not need to pay any fees. There are plenty of reading tables. Don‘t forget to put your bag in one of the lockers before you enter.

There is a photocopier and colour printer located in the main hall right after the entrance. In case you have to print a lot you should choose an early time because it can get real busy in the rushing hours. Ask the nice ladies the counter they will help for sure. You can print from the computers or from the printer. One black and white print costs 10 HUF. The Mome Library provides anyone interested in art in a broad meaning. It has (along with the library of the Hungarian Design Museum) the most important collection of the country‘s technical literature in the area of applied arts. The collection focuses on Hungarian design/art publications and tries to obtain many selected foreign ones suggested by the lecturers of the university. You will find technical literature in numerous areas from Architecture to New Art Media, from Pedagogy to Management, Design Theory and Design History. It also has a splendid collection of the latest magazines to read. The Art of the Book selection includes bibliophile publications (old prints, foreign monographs and reference books). It is located in Building A of the huge Mome campus, right after the entrance. Next to the well organized shelfs you have plenty of workspace and Internet Access. There is also a nice beergarden-like café/cantine. The school gallery (PontON Gallery) on Batthyány Street 65 near S z é l l K á l m á n t é r i s a l s o w o r t h a v i s i t . The Central Library of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music has the biggest music-related collection in Hungary. During the construction of the beautiful building on Liszt Ferenc Square, i t i s l o c a t e d a t t h e Te r é z v á r o s C u l t u r a l C e n t r e . T h e L i b r a r y h a s 450 000 music scores, 70 000 books and 100 journals, and there is a collection of 25 000 CDs, DVDs and vinyl records at 12 Semmelweis Street. During the reconstruction of the Main Building i n L i s z t F e r e n c S q u a r e , t h e C e n t r a l L i b r a r y o p e r a t e s i n t h e Te rézváros Cultural Centre at 10 Eötvös Street (District 6 of Budapest). The requested documents are available at the service counter within 24 hour or at a preagreed time and date. There is also a electric piano with headphones to use!

The Reading Room of the Library is open to the general public, anyone can enter it and browse the collection free of charge after registering. Basic registration means six printed and two audio-visual documents for free to borrow. Extended registration costs 500 HUF/year: you can borrow 15 printed and five audio-visual documents. It is possible to copy CD‘s and DVD‘s for a small fee. Part-time students need to pay a deposit of 30.000 HUF, which can be claimed back at the end Opening Times of their programme at the library. Színház-és Filmmüvészeti Egyetem The Library‘s collection, based very close to Blaha Luijza Tér, has been existing for a long time though at the beginning in the 19th century there weren‘t a lot of hungarian books about dramatic arts. You can find everything from music scores, plays, play scripts, exam films, sounding and motion picture material, specialized literature of theatre and film and about its related theoretical and practical education. If you enrol as a user you can also use the online catalogue which is constantly extended. The library itself is located on the 2nd floor of the main building. If you can‘t access the main entrance, just kindly ask at the reception next to it. There are many rare documents that can only be used in the library, such as theses and DLA dissertations, current and archival issues, Books and scores published before 1900 and some autographed documents.



The registration is free for teaching staff, students and employees, for adults 3000 HUF/year and students/pensioners 1500 HUF/ year You can photocopy and print in b/w ( A4/A3: 20/40 HUF/page) and in colour (A4/A3: 200/400 HUF/ page), also scanning and spiral binding is possible.
