Few biblical lessons on self-discovery Dear friends, I thought I should share these few things with you. If you do have the time, please read to the end. God bless you even as you do so in Jesus name. 1. Self discovery is an experience that steers our life, potentials, actions and also any accomplishments in life. David, from previous experiences (1 Sam. 17:36) discovered that he was a ‘power-house’ or a ‘power-carrier’, carrying the power of the Most high, and through that awareness (1 Sam. 17:37) was able to overpower Goliath. 2. Self discovery can save us from external or outside control; inappropriate teachings, coercion or influences that are in non-conformity to the nature of God and standards of God. a. Joseph knew he was the son of the most high, therefore resisted with all steadfastness the advances of Potiphar’s wife (Genesis 39:6-10). b. Likewise, Daniel, very much aware of his background did not yield to the cherished meals of the king (meals sacrificed to idols) Daniel 1:8 3. Self discovery can also be a push in attaining the marvellous heights the Lord from time-memorial has ordained for us - His children a. Remember our brother Paul from start of his ministry understood his calling and walked strictly as such. Acts 13:47, Gal. 2:7, 2 Tim. 4:6 4. Self discovery maintains our work for the Lord within confines of the calling we have received a. Heb. 5:4-5 “No one takes this honour upon himself; he must be called by God, just as Aaron was. So Christ also did not take upon himself the glory of becoming a high priest, But God said to him, You are my son today I have become your father” 5. In broad sense, self-discovery is about an induction or the knowledge we acquire; and through this, our location and position in this life and the life after can be determined. 6. Self discovery motivates our decisions, 2 Kings 7:37. Self-discovery one more time can stimulate our reliance on God a. Rom. 7:21-25 “So I find this law at work; when I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Compiled and produced by J. Gane, Norwich - UK

Thanks be to God – through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin”
