Elk River Golf Club is rated, as one of the best places to play by Golf Digest in 2008 ERGC is located 45 minutes by freeway northwest of downtown Minneapolis. It is a membership owned championship course extending playing privileges to the public. Golf at Elk River Golf Club consists of an 18-hole, championship par 72 course that offers a variety of challenges and topography found nowhere else in the area. Elk River’s lush fairways, small wellkept greens, oak woods, meandering creek, and strategically placed water hazards accommodate the novice, yet challenge the accomplished golfer. Elk River Golf Club’s small-elevated greens place a premium on accuracy and shotmaking. It is not unusual to have used every club in the bag during a round of golf here. Subtle doglegs and strategically located trees require careful placement of tee shots on most holes. The terrain is generally rolling, with each hole designed for thoughtful and interesting play. Water hazards must be negotiated on eleven of the eighteen holes. Wildlife abounds in the surrounding woods and marshland, creating a feeling of the original rural environment from which the course was carved. We feel Elk River Golf Club is a cut above the rest, and a lot of golfers apparently agree, because over 90% of our first time players return to play our course again! Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge

Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1965 and is managed to promote the health and well-being of migratory birds and their habitat. The refuge is celebrated both for its wildlife and the extraordinary opportunities provided to visitors. The upland habitats are dynamic, ranging from grasslands to oak savanna to forest. These are interspersed with a variety of wetland and river habitats ranging from sedge meadow to deep water marsh. The refuge is designated as a state Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society. Today, visitors may still discover the excitement that might have been felt over 100 years ago, as early pioneers stepped out of the “Big Woods� and onto the edge of Minnesota’s magnificent tallgrass prairie

Minnesota Historical Society’s Oliver H. Kelley Farm Step onto a working 1860s farm, home to Oliver H. Kelley, founder of the first successful national farming organization, the Order of Patrons of Husbandry, better known as the Grange. Activities follow the farming cycle and change with the season, making each visit unique. Visitors can meet the animals in the barn, help work in the fields and gardens, and see what’s cooking in the farmhouse. The Oliver Kelley Farm is a National Historic Landmark
