SMILE! A father wanted to read a magazine, but was being bothered by his little girl. She wanted to know what the United States looked like. Finally, he tore a sheet out of his new magazine on which was a printed the map of the country. Tearing it into small pieces, he gave it to her and said, ‘Go into the other room and see if you can put this together. This will show you our whole country today…’ After a few minutes, she returned and handed him the map, correctly fitted and taped together. The father was surprised and asked how she had finished so quickly. ‘Oh,’ she said, ‘on the other side of the paper is a picture of Jesus. When I got all of Jesus back where He belonged, then our country just came together.’

Thank You I want to thank everyone who sent me cards and brought food, made phone calls, thoughts and prayers during the time of my recouping from surgery. I especially want to thank Karen Hare for her care of the office while I was recouping at home. Frances for coming to help out when I need her. We lost a man who was one of our local leading cititzens. James White lived in Anthony with his wife, Zella Myrtle and sons: Gary and Arden, and daughter, Joyce Boos. James was our past city superintendent for many years. James was a member of the United Methodist Church right here in Anthony. He was a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge and a fifty year member of Order of Eastern Star. When James’s health failed him in 2008 he moved to an assisted living facility in Great Bend where he would be closer to his daughter, Joyce. James had 7 grandchildren and eleven greatgrandchildren. He will be missed by everyone who knew James. A Note From Claudine Thank you to all those who attended my 90th Birthday Celebration and to those who sent cards. It was a fun, memorable afternoon and I enjoyed visiting with all of you. Also, thank you to Tess Anderson and her family, Karen Cather, Karen Hare, Peggy Schmidt, and Connie Netahla for all their work. And, thank you to the Church for making it such a special day. God Bless You! Claudine Gering
