Expelled is a documentary hosted by Ben Stein that focuses on the "controversy" between intelligent design and evolution, which the film for some reason refers to as "Darwinism." Frankly, I've never heard anybody refer to relativity as "Einsteinism" or the Big Bang theory referred to as "Hawkingism," so I'm calling this one a cheap shot. That's the ultimate problem with this movie; it doesn't play fair. It lies, cheats, and blissfully twists the evidence with ridiculous editing. For example, when the film mentions directed panspermia, Ben Stein (a terrible Michael Moore wannabe) simply says "I thought we were talking about science!" while the film plays footage of 1950s sci-fi films. No talk about what makes this theory ridiculous, just a simple brushing off. The irony is that the film doesn't mention the widely accepted fact that it's currently impossible to scientifically prove that God exists, which the film could easily brush off by Stein saying the same thing and showing pictures of God sitting on a cloud! The film also fails to mention people like Francis Collins (who said he was denied an interview for the film) who successfully combine their views of evolution and religion without conflict. Of course, no evidence is given in the film as to why evolution is a widely-accepted idea, even though all it's evidence for intelligent design consists of Stein effectively pointing at fancy pictures of cells and saying "Look! It's just too complex to have possibly evolved! God did it!" The claim is also made that evolution helped cause the holocaust. I say, if "Darwinism" really caused the holocaust, then Hitler clearly didn't understand that evolution isn't about being overall better, it's about adapting to your environment better, and that also according to Darwin, the "better adapted Aryan race" would simply replace the "less adapted Jewish race" over time with no intervention required. Intelligent Design also isn't represented well in the film. The definition given is that it involves looking for patterns in nature that must've been placed there by a intelligent agent, no matter the method of how everything else was created. This makes perfect sense; even Richard Dawkins agrees with it later in the film, which Stein jumps on! If that's the case then, why does ID in real life comprise mostly of giving reasons why evolution is wrong? According to William Dempski in the film, ID can still be compatible with evolution! Sadly, it all fits perfectly into the idea that ID is nothing but rehashed creationism bundled into a nice package, which is obviously the exact opposite intention of those who support it. It saddens me that people take this film so seriously when it distorts such information. Nobody in the film lost their job due to speaking about ID (one teacher's contract simply expired, other simply threw hissy-fits at losing their jobs), and evolution is gravely misrepresented in the film. The film may look nice, but on the inside, it reeks of wasted opportunities for a good film about the interesting and legitimate ideas of intelligent design. Shame.

Those of you in HCOS with Skype accounts may have noticed earlier last scripture_memorization/

week that your name was added into a GINOURMOUS (this word can’t even begin to describe the size) group. You were at the mercy of morally incorrect repetitive spamming, which was perpetrated by two students who will remain

Congratulations to the students who have worked hard all year at putting God’s Word in their heart!

anonymous, in which most of you may, or may not have suffered brain and/or cornea damage.* Over nearly one hundred people have either left or been ejected from this group (this group was a great way to find all the people in HCOS who don’t use Skype on a daily basis), and our original intention on making a chat room with a large percentage of the school’s

participants failed miserably. It wasn’t too long after that we remembered the NING had already made a perfectly functioning chat room environment for all the HCOS users. The massive, mega spamming group was originally created by a small, little, innocent Skype group with participants whose identities shall be kept a secret (Reddicopp and Low were amongst them). This group, along with myself, would like to apologize if we caused you any inconvenience in this matter over Skype. We wish to send a formal apology with the wishes and intentions that you dear people of the forums and HCOS will not hold anything against us in this matter.

*Please, don’t take this sentence seriously. Please.

Letter To The Editor By Becca Reddicopp “WHY IS THE SKY NEVER GREEN???, It’s red, orange, yellow and blue, indigo, violet but never green?” -Jesse O, 16 Answer: Because God made it that way... Google it?.. Hahaha, the sky is actually green sometimes, but only for an instant shortly after a sunset or sunrise, there is an amazing flash of green, known as the ‘green flash’.

Bebs! My question for you is: “How do you be a cool Christian? It seems like being a Christian now days is uncool.” -Jubilee C, 16 Answer: As teens we feel a pressure to fit in with the crowd, to be accepted and to be ‘cool’, making standing up for our faith tough sometimes. It’s so easy to get sucked into this, the way of the world. We need to realize that putting God first all the time even in front of our friends is a must. You can be a ‘cool’ Christian by standing up for what you believe and being that shining light for God which makes you stand out! “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” -John 8:23

“What do you think about self esteem? Do you have any advice for people with low self esteem?” -Anonymous Self esteem is how you think of yourself. Having low self esteem can mean you’re feeling down, worthless, ugly, bad about yourself, ect.. It’s a horrible feeling and can make you unhappy. The best way to feel great, wonderful, confident with yourself is to trust God and know that you are made in His PERFECT image! The Creator of the universe made YOU perfect, isn’t that amazing?! So why should we care what others say about us? ‘Proverbs 15:13 A joyful heart makes a cheerful face, But when the heart is sad, the spirit is broken.’ The devil will try so hard to make you feel horrible, that’s why we need to flee from him and not accept the lies! ‘James 4:7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.’ Keep your head up high, smile, and know that you are wonderful and perfect in His image!

What do you believe is a Biblical view of the use of genetically engineered foods/animals/ ect.? -Samara P, 13 Answer: Wow, this is a great question! First off, God says that the animals and plants are all made good (Genesis 1:11-12 and Genesis 1:2425). So if all the animals and plants He made are good, then why should we be engineering, modifying and altering our foods? Also, many people don’t know the serious health hazards from eating GMO (genetically modified organism) foods. The scary thing is, in Canada and the U.S there are no laws against GMO foods, meaning they don’t have to label their products as GMO, so we really don’t know what we’re putting into our bodies. The best way to avoid these foods is to purchase certified organic fruits, vegetables and meats. God wants us to take care of our bodies, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own, you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” -1 Corinthians 6:19-20, so by consuming these harmful foods we are not doing any good for ourselves and the younger generation. So I encourage everyone to do further research for themselves, as not many are aware of what GMO is and how in a few years from now it could seriously harm people.
