REVIEW UPCOMING ACTIVITIES THROUGH JULY 31, 2011:  CanSPEP Day, in Markham -Thursday, April 7, 2011. Paula is exhibiting on behalf of NFT. Niagara Falls was recently awarded the CanSPEP 2012 Annual Conference which Paula will actively promote in Markham. As host DMO, Paula has a position on the Conference Committee to share information with the local committee.  Assist SCCN Team with Grand Opening FAM, April 8 & 9, 2011 – Joanne & Paula are participating on behalf of NFT by assisting with client groups at dinner on Friday, Saturday morning activity, Saturday lunch. Host hotels for the Grand Opening are the Hilton Hotel & Suites, Marriott Niagara Falls, Marriott Gateway on the Falls, Doubletree Fallsview.  National Meetings Industry Day, April 14, 2011 – Paula will attend in Toronto and Joanne will attend in Montreal.  PwC FAM, April 15, 2011 – Paula – Six PwC planners to see Niagara Falls product on April 15th (as selected by client) and Niagara-on-the-Lake product on April 16th. White Oaks is hosting the team.  Mississauga Sales Mission was moved from February to May, May 2 & 3, 2011 – Paula currently has 6 appointments. Hilton, Celebrate Niagara and Radisson now participating.  Ottawa Sales Mission, May 3-6, 2011 – Joanne has a full team going. In addition to calls, there is the opportunity to attend the MPI Prix Prestige Gala event on May 5th. (Note: It has since been announced that Joanne St-Pierre has been nominated for Supplier of the Year!)  MPI Toronto Education Conference, June 2-3, 2011, Deerhurst – Paula  CSAE Trillium Chapter’s Summer Summit, South Huron, ON, July 14 & 15, 2011 – Paula attending and continues on the planning committee this year. REVIEW TRADESHOW/CONFERENCE PARTICIPATION THROUGH AUGUST 31, 2011:  ASAE’s Springtime, Washington, DC, April 28 – Joanne is attending with representatives from Marriott Gateway, Scotiabank Convention Centre Niagara and Sheraton on the Falls.  AIBTM, June 21-23, 2011 in Baltimore, MD. 1st time attending a Hosted Buyer format in the corporate market. Tradeshow location will be within the CTC Pavilion. Paula attending with Marriott Gateway and Scotiabank Convention Centre.  MPI’s WEC, Orlando, FL, July 23-26 – Hoster Buyer format instead of free flow marketplace. Paula and Joanne will be attending and sharing 8 appointments with the SCCN team as well as attending educational sessions and networking events.  ASAE Annual Expo, St. Louis, MO, August 6-9, 2011 – Joanne attending. Currently NFT has secured one kiosk within the CTC Pavilion and one booth in the International section. Current partners participating are Marriott Gateway, Scotiabank Convention Centre, Sheraton on the Falls, and Hilton Hotel & Suites. There is still opportunity for two more partners to participate! Please contact Joanne for further information.  IncentiveWorks, Toronto, ON, August 23-24 – Paula attending. Currently three Niagara Falls Booths that can be combined with SCCN, Sheraton on the Falls, Marriott Gateway booths to create a larger Niagara Falls presence. Wine & Culinary theme being discussed.

Tom Rado of Helms Briscoe contacted Paula to discuss possibility of a Pre-Fam August 20-22, which is the weekend preceding the show. Also conflicts with SITE golf event on the Monday. Consensus was to propose a Post-Fam to Tom.

FOCUS GROUP POSSIBILITY: Paula and Joanne suggested the MC& IT Partners participate in a focus group to help identify:  Why there is not full participation from our partners on various initiatives, whether for tradeshow participation, sales missions, etc.  Feedback on what is being done right and what is being done wrong  Is there a theme that we should establish to best represent Niagara Falls that can be carried throughout the year?  How can we showcase Niagara together as a united team?  Kelly Shannon from the Peller is welling to host this event, we just need a date and time. Joanne is receiving quotes from facilitators and NFT Board approval is being sought before proceeding. NFT WEAR:  The goal is a united image for partners to wear at shows, either vests or jackets.  The LuLu Lemon jacket from 2009 is costly and comes in limited sizes. Some of the white jackets are turning grey.  We would like to go to a nice sold coloured-blue and stay away from white, but we have been having difficulty finding a nice blue that doesn’t have accent colours.  Product samples have come in from various suppliers. Fleece is not acceptable for warmer months.  Kelly Shannon is going to forward her supplier contact information regarding the vests for further NFT investigation PARTNER UPDATE/OTHER BUSINESS  Peller Estates Winery – Looking forward to the Peller Estates Ballroom opening in the Scotiabank Convention Centre Niagara. New Group Packages released. In the final stages of hiring an additional salesperson.  Marriott Gateway on the Falls – Rebranded from the Sheraton Fallsview to Marriott Gateway on the Falls midMarch. $15 million in renovations to take place with start date in the very near future. Paula & Joanne asked for new one page pdf of the property.  Americana Conference Resort & Spa– Released new conference packages. In process of building sales team at the Americana. Paula asked for new one page pdf of the property.  Hilton Hotel – Nothing significantly new since we met last.  Fallsview Casino Resort – Nothing significantly new since we met last.  Alpha Audio Visual – New to the MCIT program! AAV has been in the region for many years, using the Thunder Productions name. Rebranding to assist with image of only a production company. They have worked with the Niagara Grape and Wine Festival in the past. They hope to develop relationships with the hotel contacts.  Great Estates of Niagara – Finalizing concert series which will be announced 4th. Any Facebook fans will receive a sneak peek of the line up on April 26th. They will be hosting a Kitchen Party for some of the clients attending the SCCN Grand Opening.  Radisson Hotel & Suites – New to the MCIT program! Currently in process of completing renovations. Lobby, guestrooms and two boardrooms will receive a very contemporary look. Tony Roma’s is primary restaurant. Paula & Joanne to site immediately following the meeting.  Niagara Airbus – Working with JPDL Niagara for the opening of the Convention Centre – 4 buses both days. New fleet of mini coaches and Lincoln Navigators (seat 4-6 pax) and limo buses. A new wrap of the Niagara destination with the main attractions to be added to mini-coaches. The conference screen can now provide links to the planners to coordinate ground transportation. -Christina explained that $75 + taxes RETURN for a conference delegate is less expensive than travelling into downtown Toronto. As transportation is sometimes our strongest objection from planners, it is important that we all make note of this great price!  Canadian Niagara Hotels – Many changes to come over the next 6 months. Falls Avenue Resorts is going to experience a whole new look for logo, new materials, etc. The Fallsview Restaurant within the Sheraton on the Falls is going to be divided into two new restaurants: a fine dining restaurant with a Celebrity Chef and a “Marche”-style restaurant with various food stations throughout.
