Barrister and Solicitor, New Zealand, 1984; appointed as Queen’s Counsel, June 2014. Anita Chan’s areas of practice are family law, family law arbitration and mediation. Her recent work comprises: international family law cases (specialist) including multijurisdictional contracting out agreements; property cases including high net value assets, family trusts, complex business structures, cross-border assets or parties; child law cases (including cases involving difficult parties, complex psychological factors, national or international relocation or child abduction, surrogacy and international adoption); and representation of children (Lawyer for Child, a Court-appointed role). Her professional associations/memberships include: New Zealand Law Society; New Zealand Law Society Family Law Section (former Chair); New Zealand Bar Association; International Academy of Family Lawyers (former Vice-President, Counsel, Parliamentarian and Governor).
