20  January  2013       Dear  Parents  and  Carers, I  have  reluctantly  taken  the  decision  to  close  the  school  on  Monday  21st  January  due  to  the  continued  inclement  weather   on  Friday  and  throughout  the  weekend. I  had  hoped  for  a  thaw  over  the  weekend  following  the  snowfall  on  F riday.  However,  the  weather  today  (Sunday)  in   Tottenham  has  been  snowy  and  the  snow  has  again  settled  in  the  area. Everything  was  done  by  our  site  staff  to  make  the  site  safe  for  students  and  staff  to  complete  a  normal  uninterrupted   day.  However,  despite  their  efforts,  the  weather  conditions  have  proven  too  difficult. The  decision  to  close  the  school  is  n ever  taken  lightly.  The  following  factors  are  taken  into  account: 1. The  health  and  safety  of  the  site  for  staff  and  students     2. The  condition  of  the  roads  and  p avements  leading  into  the  school  (particularly  Northumberland  Park  Road)     3. The  ability  to  fully  staff  the  school  –  and  h ence  guarantee  health  and  safety  for  students  and    maintaining  a  reasonable   educational  provision  for  them       Whereas  I  am  confident  that  we  would  have  had  sufficient  staff  present  on  Monday,  I  do  not  believe  that  the  site  and  the   roads  and  pavements  leading  into  the  school  are  safe  for  the  entire  school  to  function. Everything  will  now  be  done  to  get  the  school  ready  for  opening  on  Tuesday,  and  you  should  assume  that  this  will  be  the   case  u nless  you  h ear  otherwise  from  the  school  via  the  website,  text  message  or  e-‐mail. I  apologise  for  any  inconvenience  created  by  this  decision,  but  hope  that  you  can  appreciate  the  reason  for  it.  I  very  much   hope  that  we  will  be  open  as  normal  on  Tuesday  morning. Thank  you  again  for  your  continued  support. Regards         Monica  Duncan   Headteacher
