THE BALLROOM The 9,200 square foot Ballroom features 18-foot ceilings and is one of the largest and most luxurious event spaces on Oahu. Including three pre-function galleries and served by a creative Executive Chef, the Ballroom can accommodate up to 800 guests for seated dinners. Decorated in a light color palette and hung with clusters of basket-weave ceiling lamps to give off a candle-like glow, the interior can easily be adapted to reflect an individualized event design curated by The Modern Honolulu’s experienced team of specialists. SUN SUITE The Sun Suite offers 1,300 square feet of indoor space and a 1,500 square foot outdoor terrace for private parties and intimate functions. With the feel of a luxury apartment, the Sun Suite showcases beautiful sunsets and stylish design features. Customized Morimoto menus are also available for private parties on request. THE SUNSET POOL The Sunset Pool may be booked for exclusive events and private parties. Exotic and secluded, the space is shaded by tall palms and indigenous dune foliage, while a sandy beach surrounds a shallow circular lagoon, creating an alluring platform for guests to gather, lounge and celebrate under a starry sky. PENTHOUSE The posh destination for parties and intimate functions, The Modern Honolulu’s 1,500 square foot luxury Penthouse with its landscaped and furnished 1,400 square foot terrace provides an indoor/outdoor entertaining space with the intimate feel of a private residence. Enjoy expansive views across Oahu’s harbor and ocean from this exquisite space. Customized Morimoto menus are available for private parties on request.
GUIDELINES SERVICE CHARGE AND SALES TAX All food and beverage prices are subject to a 20% service charge. Hawaii state tax of 4.172% will be added to all food, beverage, labor, gratuity and miscellaneous charges.*
SPECIAL REQUESTS We are happy to accommodate special food and beverage requests. We ask that you make us aware of any dietary restrictions 72 hours prior to the event date.
DEPOSITS A non-refundable deposit based on 25% of the estimated balance is required in order to confirm your reservation. A second deposit is required prior to the event date and is based on an additional 25% of the estimated remaining balance. The estimated final balance is due 10 business days prior to your event in the form of cash, a cashierâ€™s check or credit card.
FOOD and BEVERAGE All food and beverage must be purchased exclusively by The Modern Honolulu and consumed in the designated function areas. The Modern Honolulu is the only licensed authority to serve alcoholic beverages on the grounds, therefore outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the property. Due to the state of Hawaii health regulations and the respect of our culinary team, all visiting chefs or cooking demonstrations conducted by chefs from outside of the hotel must be coordinated by The Modern Honolulu.
GUARANTEES A final guest count is required 72 business hours prior to the function. This number is the minimum you will be charged for, or your actual attendance, whichever is greater. We will be prepared to accommodate up to 5% over your guaranteed guest count. Please note that a minimum food and beverage amount is indicated in the catering contract. A labor fee of $500* will apply to all meal buffets if your final guarantee is less than the minimum noted in the menus. OUTDOOR EVENTS Outdoor entertainment may begin no earlier than 9:00am and must be completed by 10:00pm. In the event we are faced with inclement weather on the day of your event, a weather call will be made between the client and the hotel. The decision must be made not less than 3 hours in advance of the scheduled start time.
SIGNAGE Signs and registration tables in public areas, the lobby or on guest room floors are prohibited. Signage outside of hospitality suites or event space is to be professionally printed and approved by your event manager. The posting of any items on the function room walls or doors is strictly prohibited; arrangements can be made for easels and corkboards. SECURITY The Modern Honolulu will not be responsible for the damage or loss of any equipment or articles left in the hotel prior to, during or following an event. We will be happy to make arrangements for loss prevention officers at $70.00 per hour.* * All prices subject to change
