Preface

This Graphic Standard Manual (GSM) was made to fulfill the Mid Semester Examination (UTS) assignment in odd semester for Visual Communication Design III course. Also, it is made to serve as a guide as an effort to maintain the consistency of a visual identity that has been designed, because the application of correct and appropriate visual elements can improve branding quality.

Therefore, this GSM contains various design elements, POP displays (mascots), E-posters (social media), and billboards of a brand. Of course, these things have a deep meaning for the brand. I hope that these POP displays (mascots), E-posters (social media), and billboards will be well received.

Finally, as the author of this GSM, I thank Mr. Adrianto, S.Ds., M.Ds. and Mr. Yuda Suryasa Sjaerodji, S.Ds., M.Ds., as a lecturer for this course and to all my friends.

Hopefully this GSM will bring benefits and add value to its readers.

About the Company

Cheers! is my personal business for the Fundamentals of Designpreneur course in my fourth semester of college. This business is based online on Instagram.

This business is a service to design greeting cards according to client requests and wishes. The greeting cards are designed digitally with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator applications, then printed and sent to clients.

This business also has a tagline, namely #GreetAndCheers. This tagline is used by customers in Instagram Posts or Instagram Stories, so that they can be shared by this business’s Instagram account on the Instagram Story of @cheers_greetingcard.

Cheers! already has an Instagram account, but the business has not been running until recently because the business was originally just for assignments.

How to Order

Search the Instagram account @ cheers_greetingcard. On the Instagram account profile, click Message. Send a message to submit your wish.

If the admin has responded, select the desired package or card criteria.

Transfer payments by transfer to a specific account. Can be through bank accounts and OVO.

If so, wait for the process of making a greeting card around 3-5 days. The product will be sent with Grab.

Target Audience

Geographic

This business customer resides in Indonesia. To be more specific, people who live around Bogor Regency, West Java. Also, the clientele is probably more students and adults.

Attitudinal

Customers will definitely praise and criticize the product. This business will also ask customers to review and recommend to other potential customers. Many customers order Cheers! greeting cards, when there is an event or they want to greet someone.

Psychographic

Of course, there are business customers whose lifestyle is frugal, but there are also those who are extravagant. This business customer is roughly upper middle class. People ordering were roughly generous, friendly, extroverted, funny, and sociable. Usually, they order when holding events and to give greetings to people,

Demographic

Most of the customers of this business are over 16 years old and the buyers are mostly women. Most of the customers are school and college students, approximately high school, undergraduate and graduate students with an income of around Rp. 0.00 to Rp. 10,000,000.00.

Behavioral

Cheers! customers are certainly smart, where they definitely need proof that the products are of good quality and easy to convince. Customers certainly need greeting cards with good designs, decorations, and quality. Customers order greeting cards for events or to give to people. Cheers! certainly hopes that customers are willing to order again, if it matches the product and service.

This business logo depicts 2 glasses with a greeting card in the middle. The glass is to describe the festive atmosphere on special days, while the card is to describe the greeting that you want to convey in that atmosphere. The logo also uses a bold and elegant font, to give the atmosphere a luxurious and happy feel.

Color Palette

The hallmark of Cheers! is the use of the same color palette on social media and on other platforms. This color palette consists of soft pastel colors and gives a natural impression. This is to show that this brand is environmentally friendly, because the cards and packaging are made of recyclable materials. Also, to show that this brand is aimed at children and young people, and seems friendly.

There are various kinds of greeting cards. There are also those whose greeting cards are edible, of course they are safe and hygienic. This is to show that this brand is known for being hygienic and environmentally friendly. As for the design, it’s each request to determine what the design will be like.

Cheers! uses a calm color palette, and provides a variety of cute greeting cards with simple and minimalist vector designs, following trends and using environmentally friendly paper. The delivery uses an online motorcycle taxi, but it can also be sent via the postman and we send it directly for a more traditional method. Greeting cards are required for certain occasions. Usually, those who order more for millennials to give to loved ones and upload them on social media.

This business uses a pastel and muted color palette. For the card itself, it uses recycled paper and a minimalist vector design. Usually, using materials such as paper, envelopes, glitter, and others. For delivery, they usually use online motorcycle taxis. This business is also for all genders, the price is a bit premium, eco-friendly, and relaxed. People usually order their cartoons for certain occasions and for posting on social media.

Perceptual Map

From the results of analysis with Perceptual Map, it turns out that Cheers! is quite expensive, but the quality is mediocre. However, it has many competitors such as Scoop, Strawberry, Typo, Rainbow, Gramedia, MR D.I.Y., and Cindy Yayang.

Personality Slider

From the results of analysis with the Personality Slider, it turns out that Cheers! is for all genders, the card design is simple, for young people, the color palette is normal, tends to be modern, the design is very friendly for everyone, the price is a bit premium, the design is a bit childish and aesthetic, the design is ordinary, using recycled materials, for all groups, and the design is relaxed and for ordinary purposes.

Morphological Matrix

From the results of the analysis with the Morphological Matrix, it is classified into 4 groups:

• Delivery (How to send the card)

• Materials (Materials for making cards)

• Target (Requirement for card request)

• Millennials (Things that young people are interested in)

I made 3 alternative mascot designs. The first design is a dove with a head that resembles an envelope and is geometric in style, to show that Cheers! provides services for making greeting cards and can be delivered to customers.

The second design is a greeting card that opens to resemble a mouth and is equipped with a tongue, where I was inspired by the howler from the film Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002). This is to show that Cheers! it’s a greeting card business to meet the happy mood on a special day.

The third design is a mailbox that has a face, as well as hands and feet. This is to show that greeting cards can be delivered by Cheers! to the customer and the customer can give it directly to the customer’s destination.

Shows that Cheers! has packaging in the form of envelopes to store the greeting cards inside, so that the greeting cards are safe, clean, and in good condition.

Geometrical Body

Shows that Cheers! greeting cards are made of eco-friendly and recyclable cardboard.

Birthday Hat

Shows that people order those greeting cards for loved ones on special days.

Sequin Eyes

Shows that Cheers! greeting cards use a variety of home-made materials that are easy to find in everyday life, and shows that this brand is friendly for children.

Origami Beak

Shows that sometimes Cheers! greeting cards use origami, according to requests from customers.

The colors used for the mascot are taken from the colors of the dove which include white, gray, green and orange. The white and gray colors of the dove denote cleanliness and trustworthiness.

The green color in the eyes to show confidence in convincing customers, as well as thoroughness in making and sending greeting cards. Also, to show that this brand is environmentally friendly.

Orange beak and feet to indicate warmth and playfulness. Also, to show that this product is home made.

E-Poster

For E-Poster, I make posters for Instagram Post and Instagram Story. The poster design is the same, only slightly modified in both posters.

The poster features the Cheers! mascot flying and saying “Order Now” with some gifts dropping. The thing is that this business sends customer greeting card orders to customers.

The poster also features online taxi drivers, order takers, and mailboxes (on Instagram Story). This is to show the steps of the greeting card’s journey to the customer.

The poster also depicts a champagne glass, a wedding ring, and a graduation hat. This is to show the purpose of people ordering Cheers! greeting cards.

Around the poster also I put a lot of sparkling stars. This is to show that this business greeting card is usually for customers’ loved ones on special days.

POP Display

For the POP display, I made a pop up of the Cheers! mascot which is equipped with a shelf that resembles the tray in Greetie’s hand. The tray is to put samples of products from Cheers!. Also, it has the words “Order Now” and the logo of Chers! above Greetie’s head.

Billboard

For the billboard, I depicted the flying Cheers! mascot with the brand logo underneath. Also, equipped with the card delivery process and Cheers! products. The billboard is also equipped with an invitation to customers to order and the brand’s Instagram account. This is to invite customers to order greeting cards from this brand and find out the quality of Cheers! products.

Packaging

The packaging for the greeting cards is 100% eco-friendly, as it uses recycled cardboard to make the packaging. Some packaging is in the form of an envelope for a small number of cards. Also, there are boxes for people who order a fair amount of their cards.

Animation

The commercial begins with Greetie appearing among the clouds and swerving. Then, the screen shows a rear view of Greetie flying towards the sun, where it shines and the screen turns white.

From there, the screen shows a flying Greetie surrounded by lots of gifts, all of which rotate around and cover the screen.

After that, the screen shows Greetie flying and dropping lots of greeting cards, then the cards bend and cover the screen and fall down, bringing up a new screen.

The screen shows a current that appears from top to bottom, then the Cheers1 logo and stars around it appear. After that, the stars shine until the screen turns white to reveal a new screen filled with the business’ social media.
