raison d’être The focus of this zine was to emphasize that Gotham is very versatile in that its mood and wide selection of weights allows it to be perfect for any situation. This zine was created to metaphorically represent that idea. The designer’s decision to create a zine inspired by a cookbook is two-fold: first, to represent the Gotham’s vernacular origins; and, second, to visually demonstrate that Gotham’s versatile set of weights are appropriate for numerous situations. Additionally, she wanted to present this information in a way that was light-hearted and interactive for readers. So she created a cover that reiterated this idea: the customizable cover allows users to experience, firsthand, the versatility of “Gotham.”
