The Pantry seeks donations for Thanksgiving BY CHANING GREEN NEWS WRITER
For more than a decade, The Pantry has helped low-income families in the Oxford and Lafayette community have a happy and plentiful Thanksgiving. Throughout the past couple weeks, The Pantry has been working to secure donations and ensure they are able to continue to do so.
The Pantry is operated entirely off of the work of volunteers. Each month, a different local church sends a manager and a couple volunteers to keep the nonprofit food bank running smoothly. This month, Oxford Church of Christ is working with the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP) to keep The Pantry operational. Leading the charge for Oxford Church of Christ is Deborah Bone. She has been

working with The Pantry for the past 10 years. She is also the treasurer of the board that oversees the nonprofit and has worked as manager for the month of November for the past three years. “I grew up always volunteering and donating my time,” Bone said. “I just like helping others.
