Jeff Boren is the third head football coach at Alcorn Central in three years. Jim McCay, who took over for Brian White, resigned in the spring after one season on the job. … Before leaving the area last season, Boren served as an assistant coach at Kossuth and Tishomingo County. … Boren’s message to the team since taking over has been to compete. “Not just in ballgames, but competing everyday,” he said.
