Camp Fees

For many years, fees for attending Camp Scherman have been largely subsidized by the Girl Scouts of Orange County. Our three-tiered pricing program allows families to see the actual “per girl” cost (Tier 3) to operate Camp Scherman and to choose from three price tiers. Please choose the fee plan that is most appropriate for your family’s financial circumstances. All girls have the same unforgettable camp experience, regardless of pricing tier. Financial assistance is available for girls who qualify, see page 12 for more information. Weekend Camps $104 - $135 per camper depending on camping accommodations. See pages 15 - 18 for more information. Create Your Own Weekend Camp ALL LEVELS Whether you are new to camp or are a weekend camp warrior, unplug from your busy life and recharge at Camp Scherman. Hang out on the lake or at the museum. For all weekend camps, campers will either stay in Upper Camp or Ranch House Cabins.

Girl Scout Levels by Grade D - Daisy (K-1) B - Brownie (2-3) J - Junior (4-5) C - Cadette (6-8) S - Senior (9-10) A - Ambassador (11-12)

In Upper Camp, girls stay in small cabins or in fully enclosed sleep shelters. The cabins sleep 6-8 in bunk beds. The enclosed shelters have “slumber party” style sleep accommodations with mattresses on the floor, heat, and electricity. Restrooms are within walking distance of both. Ranch House Cabins sleep 12-24 in bunk beds and have heat and electricity. Restrooms are located inside the cabins. Troops, groups and families can choose from weekend sessions that offer time-honored outdoor activities including archery, canoeing, hiking, campfires, Journey and badge-earning activities. All Weekend Camps include meals, staff-led activities and accommodations. Brownie Blast B, March 28th - 30th Upper Camp, $104.00 per person A special weekend just for Brownies to come and experience camp the way only a Brownie can! Spend the day practicing archery, creating masterpieces in arts and crafts, connecting with nature on hikes and round out your day of adventure with a campfire! Songsational ALL LEVELS, April 4th - 6th Ranch House Cabins, $135.00 per person Do you like to sing? If so come join us for a weekend of singing, skits and s’mores! You’ll sing songs as you hike through camp and have the opportunity to

participate in other camp activities like archery and canoeing. Top off the weekend by taking home your very own skit book! Outdoor Cooking J, C, SR, AMB, April 25th - 27th Upper Camp, $104.00 per person Love to cook or want to learn how? Whip up some marvelous meals and tasty treats and design recipe cards to recreate yummy eats at home! Have fun in the kitchen, or try out your oven mitts with Dutch oven, and even outdoor grill cooking! In between taste tests, choose from a buffet of camp activities like canoeing and archery. Bridging Weekend ALL LEVELS, May 23rd - 25th Upper Camp, $104.00 per person This is a special time for girls who are ready to move to the next level and want to share the magic of camp in a ceremony that signifies the accomplishments and adventures that lie ahead for each girl. Take part in planning your ceremony as well as participating in a variety of camp activities.

No ceremony at camp would be complete without a cake just for you! Join us for your next step in Girl Scouts. Be Brave! Arrow Dynamics J, C, SR, AMB, May 30th - June 1st Upper Camp, $104.00 per person Never seem to have enough time at archery? Grab your quiver and take aim. Join us for a weekend of archery and more archery, along with other camp activities like canoeing and hiking. Play archery baseball and shoot for distance in a guaranteed bulls-eye weekend!

Stargazing and folklore will fill your evening as you experience the primitive area of Camp Scherman. During the day, have fun hiking, swimming, boating, archery, or whatever else your group decides! Leader/Daughter Weekend ALL LEVELS, August 1st - 3rd Ranch House Cabins, $135.00 per person Leave your troop in the city for one-on-one fun with your daughter in the beautiful outdoors. Enjoy a weekend with your favorite Girl Scout. We do the cooking and planning so you don’t have to. Canoe on the lake, take aim in archery, take a dip in the pool and much more.

Me and My Guy ALL LEVELS, June 6th - 8th Upper Camp, $104.00 per person Pack your car and head up to the mountains for a special weekend just for dads and their daughters! Aim your arrow at the balloons on the archery range… how many can you pop? Race across the lake in a canoe then team up for more fun times together. Girls -- plan a silly skit with your guy. You’ll be amazed at what you can get him to do! Swimming and Swamping J, C, SR, AMB , June 6th - 8th Ranch House Cabins, $135.00 per person Grab your sunscreen and swim suit for a weekend of water fun! Play in the pool, paddle across the lake, swamp (flip) your canoe and learn how to get back inside and paddle to your next adventure. Bring your towel and flashlight and join us as the sun sets for a nighttime pool party. We’ve got lots of water and excitement in store for you! 20 Summer Camps Summer Camps Summer Camp is a great opportunity for girls to disconnect from their daily routines and electronics to connect with each other and create lifelong memories. A chance to have FUN! In addition to themed activities, all campers will have the opportunity to swim, canoe, do arts and crafts and archery, visit the Camp Scherman museum, hike, have a cookout, sing songs by the campfire and enjoy the stars at night. For all summer camps, girls stay in cabins that sleep 6-8 in bunk beds, unless the camp session indicates “primitive” camping or Ranch House Cabins. Ranch House Cabins sleep 12-24 in bunk beds and have heat and electricity. Restrooms are located inside the Ranch House Cabins. Artrageous Girls entering 4th - 6th grades Upper Camp; Sessions 1, 4 Get your creative juices flowing and let your imagination go as you make your own unique jewelry, colorful tie-dye creations, and intricate lanyards. Explore camp and create art out of nature as you find inspiration in the beauty of the mountains. All materials provided. Be Brave and Take Aim Girls entering 4th - 6th grades Upper Camp; Session 5 Bravely practice taking aim on the archery range like Merida and perfect your archery skills and shooting style. Enjoy fun and interactive archery games and participate in a medieval feast. Brownie Blast Girls entering 2nd - 3rd grades Upper Camp; Session 5 Spend your time at camp making new friends, learning new things and just having fun! Each day will bring a new adventure just for you, including swimming, canoeing, arts and crafts and so much more. Camper Sampler Girls entering 2nd - 3rd grades; Upper Camp; Sessions 1 , 2, 3 6th - 9th grades Upper Camp; Sessions 2, 4 What will you do this summer? Don’t sit inside when you could be in the crystal clear mountain air! archery, swimming, arts and crafts and more. Choose your own adventure and have a summer to remember! NEW! Design Divas Girls entering 4th - 6th grades; 6th - 10th grades Upper Camp; Sessions 2, 4 Tap into your inner fashionista and pamper yourself this week! Design and illustrate your creative ideas and learn simple sewing skills before modeling your creation on the camp runway. While off the runway, you’ll learn the science behind making natural skin products like a natural sugar exfoliator and focus on fitness tips, like morning yoga! Girls and Guitars Girls entering 4th - 6th grades; Upper Camp; Session 2 6th - 10th grades Upper Camp; Session 5 Can you play riffs or strum in the key of G? Learn to play guitar to accompany popular camp songs. Join your fellow musicians for camp activities when you aren’t strumming. If you have a guitar, please bring it, but it is not required. Good Eats 6th - 10th grades Upper Camp; Session 1 Cook up a storm while you learn to prepare mouthwatering meals and delicious treats! Design recipe cards so you can make your favorite camp treats at home! In between tastings, you will be able to experience a buffet of activities, like archery and canoeing.

LEAP Girls entering 6th - 10th grades Upper Camp; Session 2 Take the leap from camper to counselor in this program that’s uniquely tailored to middle school girls and discover your leadership potential! Find true friendships and lots of confidence as you enhance your skills in communication, group dynamics and team building. Night Owls Girls entering 6th - 10th grades Upper Camp; Session 3 Do you like to stay up late? Experience the wonders of camp after the sun goes down and enjoy a wide range of activities under the starry sky. Use your night vision (and flashlight) to hike with the light of the moon as your guide and find constellations as you stargaze -- floating in the pool. Keep your eyes peeled during your nighttime adventures for a chance to see a jack rabbit or deer as you explore under camp’s starry night sky! Picture This Girls entering 4th - 6th grades Upper Camp; Session 4 As you trek around camp, you be inspired to take the perfect photographs of breathtaking landscapes, nature and your new camp friends. Upload your photos and learn to use editing software to create frame-worthy photos for your wall. Girls must provide their own digital camera. Pioneer Days Girls entering 4th - 6th grades Upper Camp; Session 2 Travel back in time as you experience what life was really like for early settlers. Say goodbye to your microwave and try your hand at some old fashioned bread baking, jam making, and butter churning as you cook meals over the campfire. Create dip candles, learn sewing skills, and sleep under a blanket of stars like a real pioneer girl!

The Science of Camp Girls entering 4th - 6th grades Upper Camp; Sessions 3, 5 Explore the wonders of science and the outdoors as you make and launch bottle rockets, experiment with slimy, oozy chemical reactions, perform an egg drop, and build catapults and marshmallow shooters. Have fun as you explore physics, chemistry, and engineering! Songsational Girls entering 4th - 6th grades Upper Camp; Session 1 Sing and dance your way through the week! Do you like to be in the spotlight? Find your voice and sing some of your favorite songs, write your own lyrics and choreograph dance moves for a “songsational” show! Starry Nights Girls entering 6th - 10th grades Upper Camp; Session 5 Make a wish on a shooting star as you gaze up at the night sky from your campsite that sits under a canopy of forest trees. Stargazing and folklore will fill your evenings as you experience the primitive area of Camp Scherman, sleeping outside under the stars. 22 Summer Camps Survival Camp Girls entering 6th - 10th grades Upper Camp; Session 4 Venture into Camp Scherman’s primitive campsite. Sleep under a canopy of branches like Katniss and let the moonlight guide your imagination as you navigate during nighttime adventures. Practice building a shelter, participate in campfire cooking and survival games and so much more! Grab your pack of supplies and “rough it” with us! Swim Paddle Sail Girls entering 4th - 6th grades Upper Camp; Sessions 3, 4 Grab your sunscreen and your swim suit for a water filled adventure! Experience a Polar swim in the morning and swim under the stars at night, paddle across the lake, swamp (flip) your canoe and learn how to get back inside and paddle onto your next adventure.

Horse Camps NEW! Crafty Cowgirls Girls entering 2nd - 4th grades Lower Camp; Session 3 Giddy up cowgirls! Younger riders will have fun learning to saddle, groom, and care for the horses at Camp Scherman. With encouraging instruction, girls will become comfortable with the skills of mounting, dismounting, and riding position for walking and trotting. When they’re not riding, girls will have fun getting creative with arts and crafts.

Take the Reins Girls entering 4th - 6th grades; 6th - 9th grades Lower Camp; Sessions 1, 2, 4, 5 Beginner and Intermediate older girl riders will have fun while focusing on instruction and arena riding, develop and strengthen your skills of mounting, dismounting, and riding position for walking and trotting. In this session, girls will have the opportunity to take an overnight trail ride and camp out under the stars!
