Who is Poseidon?
Poseidon Is the Greek god of the sea. His parents were Chronus and Rhea and he is one of seven siblings, some of his well-known siblings include Zeus and Hades. Poseidon is one of twelve Olympian gods in Greek mythology. He was believed to have lived through the ancient Greek period from roughly 8th century BCE to 6th century CE and is commonly depicted as a strong bearded man with long hair, carrying his signature weapon, a Trident. He was believed to reside in an underwater palace which he created himself named the, “Golden Palace.”

- His contest with Athena: Athena was a Greek goddess. In this contest they competed for the control over the famous city of Athens. Poseidon lost the contest after his saltwater spring was deemed less valuable than Athena’s Olive tree
- His role in the Trojan war: It is said that he helped the Greeks win the war against the Trojans through his control of the sea which he used to send Sea monsters and storms in order to spoil any actions that the Trojan army took through the sea.
The Allegory
The Allegory of his story is symbolic of just how powerful and unpredictable the sea can be, furthermore it also alludes to the presence of nature and how it can contribute both to devastating destruction as well as the creation of many beautiful things in life. To emulate this in my model, I want to create something which resembles the condition of the sea. To highlight the factor of unpredictability I want my model to posses two different speeds for the mechanical systems, to show the different sides of Poseidon.

Poseidon Experimentation
On the first rotation, it goes slow
On the Second rotation, it goes quicker. This is to symbolise the unpredictability of nature.
Using A bone mechanical system, when the rod is turned, Poseidon’s trident moves up and down.
Using a Skin and muscle mechanical system, the waves fold up and down.

Vertical columns to engulf audience in Installation, Layout mimics the idea of sea monster tenticles extruding from the ocean.
Pulling wire causes Module to fold downwards
Row of Modules joined together creates one long module
Modules are then nailed onto the spiral and systematically activated along spiral structure
Intertwined spirals to immerse the audience

3D Structure Render
I picked an open area of rocket park as my site. The reason for this was because the gradual slopes of the park resemble a calm sloping ocean to contrast against the chaotic feeling of the installation and therefore represent the allegory of Poseidon, which is the 2 sides of the ocean, The chaotic and unforgiving aswell as the calm and nurturing.
