The on campus interviews provided valuable feedback and helped me prepare for the real interviews. I had the opportunity to interview with a larger number of companies without missing a lot of class. areer counseling is more than simply critiquing your resume. Meet with a career counselor to discover transferable skills, determine potential career paths within your major, discuss job search and interview strategies and receive assistance in applying to graduate school.

On Campus Interviews

Practice Interviews

P

ractice your interviewing skills and connect with an employer. Open to ALL MAJORS. Schedule an interview through your Career Gear account. These practice interviews will be approximately 30 minutes followed by a 10 minute feedback session with the interviewer.

Interview Prep

I

nterview Prep is an online, practice interviewing system designed to offer you a way to develop your interview skills. You will need a computer with a high speed internet connection, a webcam, speakers, and a microphone. If you do not have access to these items, schedule an appointment with CDC to utilize Interview Optimal Resume appstate.optimalresume.com/ Prep.

ptimal Resume offers students a variety of tools to help create, present, manage and share their resumes and receive feedback from a career counselor.

Career Gear appstate-csm.symplicity.com/students/ Career Gear, powered by Symplicity is the Career Development Center’s new career management system for scheduling career counseling appointments, posting resumes, searching for jobs and internships, signing up for on campus interviews, researching employers, identifying employer mentors and staying up to date with career center events and fairs.

t’s a fact! Students who have practical experience through an internship are given more consideration by potential employers for jobs and by graduate schools for admission. Come speak with representatives from organizations that offer internships. All majors and all class ranks are encouraged to attend!

What types of questions can I expect? What should I wear? What questions should I ask? Stop by our contact table to receive quick answers to all of your interviewing questions. Also, learn about all of the resources the Career Center offers to help you prepare for interviews.

Speed Interviewing November 13, 5:30-6:30 Table Rock, Student Union

Come to this interactive and informative workshop that will let you experience a variety of interviewing techniques and receive hands on practice in interviewing.

ASU in DC Semester Internship Program

Are you seeking to gain a great internship in our nation’s capital and earn a full semester of ASU credit while there? See our website at dc.appstate.edu for details on the program. All majors encouraged to apply! Students who have participated in the program will be available to answer your questions during contact tables in the Student Union on dates and times posted on our website. Also see ASU in DC alumni at the Internship Fair, January 30, 11-2 in the Student Union.

I felt empowered to realize the potential in me to do something way above average. Instead of being passive about internships and not doing anything about it, the Career Center made it very easy to seek out opportunities that would help me grow interpersonally and career wise.

The Disney College Program offers Spring (spring semester) and Spring Advantage (spring and summer) internship opportunities with recruitment taking place this Fall. Students must attend either an on-campus presentation or an e-presentation to be eligible for an internship interview. Peace Corps

Peace Corps will be recruiting at various events throughout this semester. Please check peacecorps. appstate.edu to view details on Information Sessions and other Peace Corps recruiting events and to sign up for the ASU Peace Corps listserv. Apply for Peace Corps service at peacecorps.gov.

I had so many opportunities available to me and I was walked through it all. From how to conduct a phone interview, to getting a Human Resources Internship, I felt armed with confidence on my right arm and a strong support by the staff on my left. All I had to do was take the initiative!
