The State University of New York at Potsdam is one of 64 campuses of The State University of New York and one of 13 SUNY Arts and Sciences colleges. The College was founded by early settlers in 1816 as St. Lawrence Academy. It continued as Potsdam Normal School in 1867 until 1942 when the College become Potsdam State Teachers College. In 1948, Potsdam became part of SUNY, the largest university system in the United States. Potsdam has a rich history of providing graduate degree programs in many of the disciplines that are at the core of the institution’s strengths. For over 70 years, programs in education, music, and the arts have accelerated student careers by providing focused programs designed for subject matter expertise and differentiated skills for the marketplace. For over 10 years, SUNY Potsdam has been offering multiple graduate programs at the SUNY Jefferson campus. This commitment has provided students in the tri-county area opportunities to continue their education and obtain professional teaching certification, pursue a career change to become a certified teacher, or earn an advanced degree to propel them in new directions within their career. These programs are the same as what is available at SUNY Potsdam. Additional notes of interest: • SUNY Potsdam staff is on hand at SUNY Jefferson’s Higher Education Learning Center to answer questions and guide you through your admissions process and program planning • Courses include face-to-face classroom sessions so that you can build your professional network • Live virtual opportunities for coursework offered on the Potsdam campus is available to provide you with additional opportunities for course completion • Courses are taught by experienced full-time faculty and qualified instructors of practice who have many years of experience as professionals working in the field

The Jefferson Higher Education Center (JHEC), opened in 2010, providing physical space for partner institutions, such as SUNY Potsdam, to offer its degrees in Watertown, NY. Potsdam is proud to partner with SUNY Jefferson to deliver the mission of the JHEC, which is to increase access to higher education to residents in the North Country.

YOUR INVESTMENT TUITION RATES* Full-Time** • NYS Residents $5,435 • Out of State/International $11,105 Part-Time (less than 12 credits per semester) • NYS Residents………$453/credit hour • Out of State/International….$925/credit hour *Tuition rates are subject to change on an annual basis. View the College’s website for the most accurate information which includes student fees and other potential miscellaneous expenses **Note that financial aid packages are based upon 12 credit hours, however academic full-time is 9 hours.
