The site lies next to the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) and the part of the Scioto River bend which contain a major pedestrian pathway with the Scioto Greenway. The Cosi Commons is an Urban Residential Community. This allows pedestrians to move freely through the site. Zoning of the Community is defined by the edges of the pathways which creates both urban and green areas within the site. Mockfirm Competition Conceptual Drawings

The Mockfirms Skyscraper Competition is an annual Competition. The focus is allowing young minds interested in the world of architecture to present their designs for a sustainable skyscraper in developing areas. Our team decided to design a building which would break the stereotypical images of a skyscraper and create an icon for the area. We designed a single tower base which separated into a dual tower structure. The two towers both twisted and pushed away from one another allowing all facades to have a different view of the city and optimizing both wind a solar gain.

Habitat for Humanity Springfield, Ohio

Student Status: Concept Habitat for Humanity designs homes for families in poverty. The organization serves a great cause, but the homes often design lack architectural integrity. I love how they provide shelter, but the composition of the structure is very dim. The buildings are often unsustainable and inefficient for cooling and heating. A question aroused how could low income houses improve? The houses had to be easy to mass produce, and be incredibly functional considering the average house build for around 50,000 dollar. The design is based on a single floor shotgun style house which the roof would change depending on the buildings cardinal direction. This would allow the building to take advantage of natural lighting, heating, and cooling. A change in building style would create a sense of identity compared to typical mass produced homes. Computer Programs Used: Autocad 2010 Revit 2010 Adobe Illustrator CS 4 Adobe Photoshop CS 4

MA CHINE Columbus, Ohio

Student Status: Installation Machine is an Installation based on the performance “One Flat Thing produced by William Forsyth. After breaking the dance down, and watching interviews of their performers and William Forsyth about the performance we analyzed three components of the performance: cueing, counterpoint, and planes. The Installation allows people to move through a series of machines which incorporate all three components of One Flat Thing. As people proceeded with each Machine, they experienced one or more components used in the One Flat Thing performance. Thus, Creating a performance by moving through each machine.

Computer Programs Used: Autocad 2010 Adobe Illustrator CS 4 Adobe Photoshop CS 4

The dancers keep an eye on each other to see the cues other performers give to them.

The dance acts as one complete unit.

The dancers move in unison using counterpoint tactics

The dancers (Sepheres) and tables (Cubes) work as individual units.

The dancers interactions with the tables which created the concept of plane.

The dancers unison movements interact with the tables. These interactions cues counterpoints.

Skyline Park Shanghai, Shanghai, China

Project Designer and Manager Status: Competition Proposal Shanghai has the largest city proper population. The 10+Design Competition “Re-thinking Shanghai 2012 was a competition to revision the Shanghai skyline in the Suzhou District. On a trip to Shanghai I realized how hard it is to be a pedestrian dodging bicycles and cars. This inspired us to make the project about pedestrian path and design a three kilometer pedestrian pathway which creates a new ways to experience the city; ten floors above architecturally designed buildings. This elevated area creates parks, public areas, bike paths, and connection points to public transportation. Computer Programs Used: Autocad 2011 Rhino 4.0 with Flamingo plug-in Adobe Illustrator CS 5.1 Adobe Photoshop CS 5.1
