The Centennial Building boasts 5 floors of modern classrooms, offices and other facilities for 21st Century Josephians. The school entrance, Registrar, Cashier’s office, and the Preschool classrooms are found on the first floor while the Junior and Senior High School faculty office is on the second floor. The four sections of 9th grade are on the third floor and the Senior Highschool students are on the fourth floor.
I
t was a bright and sunny day when the students of St. Joseph’s Academy were called to return back to their second home. It was a day of new and old faces for both the students and the teachers.
Although not yet open to the public, the fifth floor of the building houses the rooftop. There are also restrooms in every floor. All facilities are fully air-conditioned, complete with fire extinguishers, alarms and sprinklers. Classrooms of grades 9 to 12 contain television and WIFI hubs. Ms. Pam Tiolengco, the General Services head in charge of overseeing the construction, explains that the Centennial Building was built for two main reasons. First, to show gratification and celebration for the 100 years that the school has remained an institution that teaches and shapes future leaders.
The newly built Centennial building providing additional classrooms for 9th grade and senior high school students, and a new high school faculties. The officers of the newly implemented APC program were dressed in their dress blues as they assisted their fellow josephians around the school. This school year, the Josephian community welcomes the year of the youth by living by it’s theme: Empowered, Gifted, and Beloved Children of God. As we look out at the coming year ahead of us with bright eyes and open minds. May we find comradery within our classrooms and continue to develop our skills.
Second and last, the building was built for the safety of the vast majority. It is commonly known that the building that once stood on the site of the Centennial Building is nearly as old as the school itself. This is why they saw it fit to construct a building that would ensure everyone’s safety, especially in the midst of several warnings about the “Big One”. With safety as the main concern, Ms. Tiolengco reports unexpected reactions from some of the school alumni to the newest addition to the school campus. However, she believes that the construction of the Centennial Building guarantees a safe learning environment for every Josephian.
