LOCAL SPEAKERS - UNIQUE TO THE BATHURST REGION. Mary Moody, Novelist and former presenter Mary Moody is a journalist, author, television presenter and tour guide who lives with her husband film producer David Hannay on a small farm at Yetholme, near Bathurst. She has had an exciting and varied career that includes ten years as a presenter on the ABCâ€™s Gardening Australia and has produced documentary films. She has written four best selling memoirs about her mid-life adventures, running away from home and buying a village house in the southwest France. She has spoken at many charity fund raising events, corporate lunches and for institutions like the Art Gallery of NSW.
Christopher Morgan, Historian and Entrepreneur Christopher Morgan (President of the Bathurst Historical Society) owns and runs the gothic style, 1800s Abercrombie house with his wife, children and parents who live in the property. His father founded the Pittwater House Schools in Sydney, and often students can be found on the property on educational stays. Christopher is a fountain of knowledge. It is also worth visiting the grounds, only a 10 minute drive from Mount Panorama. Take advantage of the Abercrombie house guided tour of unique artwork, architecture or book into a classical concert.
Ben Bardon, Sustainability and Education, MC and host. Ben Bardon is the CEO of Skillset, a training organisation based in western NSW with operations in the UK and Timor Leste. Skillset runs the Flannery Centre as a regional response to the global issues that affect business and individuals in NSW. Ben has held management and leadership positions in vocational education and training for over 20 years and has held a number of key Board positions in that time. His professional interests revolve around improving the resilience of company business models to environmental risks. He has participated in the development of scenarios for the national workforce development plan, is a member of the national apprenticeships roundtable and is on the Board of Central West Headspace. Almost despite that heâ€™s an engaging and humorous MC and after dinner speaker, with experience hosting several large national conferences.
Kate Bracks, Masterchef Winner Be engaged by the journey of a Masterchef-stay-at-home mum in the land of food and television. ‘Our Food Bowl’- a look into the food that the Central West has to offer, sprinkled with personal anecdotes. ‘Food & Faith’- why the Christian faith is even more important to Kate than food!
Robin McLachan, History, heritage, talks and walking tours. An Adjunct Senior Lecturer in History and Heritage Studies at Charles Sturt University, Dr Robin McLachlan divides his time as an historian between researching Australian participation in the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898 in his native Canada and exploring the rich history of Bathurst, his Australian hometown. Past Bathurst projects include a play (A Local Man, co-authored with Bob Ellis) and a documentary film on the life of Ben Chifley. At present, he is working on a history of Bathurst’s convict-era settlement (181540) for Bathurst Regional Council’s preparations for the city’s bicentenary in 2015.

Not only do you have the opportunity to try these wines, but to take a personal guided vineyard tour from the winemakers themselves. Bathurst Arts Trails On the first weekend of each month take a trail to see the arts around the Bathurst region from 10am â€“ 4pm. The trail will showcase more than 30 local artists- from potters to painters, textile artists to sculptors. All of which will open their working studio/gallery spaces.
