Entertainment Musical entertainment will have a heavy spotlight during the Walker County Fair. Music will kick off the fair on Thursday, March 21 with country music singer-songwriter Jon Wolfe headlining College Night at the Fair. The musical performances will continue on March 22 with Derek Spence, a George Strait tribute artist, performing for the Rodeo Kickoff Dance. The entertainment is highlighted with Tejano Night on March 23. The headliner for the event is the Joe Cortina Band with special guest Cristina Amaro, a Selena tribute artist. Also spotlighted during the fair will be

the Black Heritage Music Celebration on March 30 with acts such as Chuck and the Guiding Clouds, NoFocus and Joy of Huntsville performing. PRCA Rodeo Professional bull riders and racers will return to the Walker County Fairgrounds for the PRCA Rodeo from Thursday, March 21 through Saturday, March 23. The event will featured a steer roping and timed event slack on March 21, followed by the barrel racing slack and rodeo on March 22 and 23. Tickets for the rodeo are for adults are $12 at the gate and $7 for children. Entry into the fair is $6 for adults, with children 12-and-under free. Season passes are available for $25.

RODEO GENERAL INFORMATION

The annual PRCA Rodeo at the Walker County Fair is scheduled for Thursday, March 21 through Saturday, March 23. Events will begin at 7 p.m. each night. Adult tickets for the rodeo are $10 in advance and $12 at the gate, while children tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the gate. Presale tickets are available at Cavender’s, Boot Barn, Huntsville Feed and Farm Supply, New Waverly Feed and The Trailer Store. — The rodeo is brought to Huntsville each year by Smith Pro Rodeos, who produces more PRCA rodeos than any other stock contractor in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. The 2019 rodeo will contain bareback, broncs and bull riding along with steer roping and barrel racing events.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Premium Non-Livestock Sale is Saturday, March 30, 2019 at noon in the Main Building. The sale will proceed rotate with the sale of supervised projects, art, horticulture and baked and canned goods. The freezer sale will follow. — The 15 top placing entries from non-livestock events will be put up for action. The Freezer Sale allows the kids who did not make the top 15 with their animal project to sell. The price is capped at the lowest price from the Premium Sale. Monetary add-on will be accepted from individual(s) or businesses for any youth sale item offered in an approved sale at Walker County Fair (premium sale, supervised project, freezer sale, horticulture, art, baked and canned goods).

BBQ/ CHILI COOK-OFF GENERAL INFORMATION

The annual Walker County Fair & Rodeo BBQ. Chili Cook-off is Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30 on the fairgrounds. — The annual Walker County Fair & Rodeo BBQ/ Chili Cook-Off event is held the last Friday and Saturday of the fair. Each year the event has 60 to 70 BBQ teams competing with some of the best tasting briskets in Texas. There are several other meat categories such as chicken, ribs, and pulled pork. Don’t forget about the “to die for” dessert dishes along with the delicious chili and bean category. The BBQ Committee also enjoys getting kid’s involved at a young age by competing in the kid’s category which allows children 12-and-under to be very creative by preparing a tasty and yummy dish of their choice.
