Grammar Past perfect and past simple Ex. 1 page 80 Rules The past perfect describes an action which happened before other past events in a narrative. We form the past perfect with: had + past participle. 1 She was in a suitcase because her mother had abandoned her. 2 When her uncle rescued her, she had been there for three years. 3 She hadn’t touched a gun before she went to the camp.

Ex.2 page 80 Time expressions English Three years after she had left the orphanage… Before the war she was happy. Life was hard during the war. She lived in orphanages, until her father was found. Her father had already moved to Germany.

First, second, and third conditional Forms of first, second and third conditional: 1 If + present simple, will + infinitive. If I go to London, I’ll take a photo of the Big Ben. 2 If + past simple, would + infinitive. If I went to London, I would buy new clothes. 3 If + had + perfect, would + have + perfect. If I had gone to London, I would have taken a photo of the Big Ben.
