This book is both a celebration of photographic achievement and a showcase for a number of OLYMPUS M.Zuiko lenses and an exclusive selection of photographers’ work. The Micro Four Thirds system has revolutionised the art of taking pictures, not just where fantastic image quality has to be combined with low weight and small size, as is the case with travel and street photography. With the OLYMPUS OM-D and PEN cameras, it has also become more than a match for nature, landscape, action and fashion, to name just some categories in which Micro Four Thirds cameras excel. With an every-increasing number of lenses to choose from, we are proud to say that we have a lens for every shot, for every project and absolutely love the artistic results that our technical expertise and photographers’ talent from around the world generate. Working with amateurs and professionals whose work has inspired thousands on the web, this book takes some of their best work to show a broad audience the true potential of photography today. We hope you enjoy looking through this lensbook as much as we have enjoyed creating it.

Diego GarĂn Martin uses his 12-50mm zoom lens mostly for landscape and still life photography and now increasingly for architecture work. Here he captures the sheer scale and sense of place with his image of this dramatic building. A good example of the versatility of this lens.

Macro Photographer Frank Rückert Lens M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 60mm 1:2.8 Macro Camera OM-D E-M5 Exposure 1/2s Aperture 9.0 ISO 200 When he’s not shooting hot-rods and architecture, Frank turns his eye and considerable photographic talent to creating amazing fly and butterfly portraits with the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 60mm Macro lens. Follow Frank’s example here and discover the macro detail of the world around you!

Nature / Wildlife Photographer Warren Fleming

Lens M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75–300mm 1:4.8–6.7 II Camera OM-D E-M5 Focal Length 179mm Exposure 1/1250s ISO 100

16 | 17 Professional photographer Warren Fleming lives in the beautiful Garden Route region of South Africa. He strongly believes patience and understanding of nature always help to get the image. An approach best shown by this intimate shot of two sibling cubs at play - making the long wait for that decisive moment so rewarding.

Portrait Photographer Patrick Ludolph

Lens M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75mm 1:1.8 Camera OM-D E-M5 Exposure 1/640s Aperture 1.8 ISO 400

18 | 19 Passionate people and travel photographer Patrick Ludolph comes in close to produce this intimate black and white portrait. His bold composition is enhanced by how this fast telephoto lens subtly foreshortens the image while ensuring the uncluttered effect of a shallow depth of field.

Personal projects / Art Photographer Adrian Sommeling Lens M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 9–18mm 1:4.0–5.6 Camera OM-D E-M1 Focal length 9mm Exposure 1/200s Aperture 8.0 ISO 800 Graphic and web designer Adrian Sommeling has achieved international recognition with his ethereal and humorous images, often of life seen through the eyes of a child. Paris Subway is a great example of his work, where after careful planning of the image, Adrian pieces together the photo to amaze and amuse the viewer.

20 | 21

Sports / Action Photographer Rob Trnka

Lens M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75mm 1:1.8 Camera OM-D E-M5 Exposure 1/100s Aperture 3.5 ISO 400

22 | 23 Rob Trnka is a versatile photographer whose documentary style covers everything from action sports to adventure travel as well as portraits and weddings. In his sports photography he is constantly striving to capture the spirit of action photography and to reflect the heat of the moment in the final image.

Street / Documentary Photographer Thomas Leuthard Lens M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 17mm 1:1.8 Camera OM-D E-M5 Exposure 1/800s Aperture 1.8 ISO 200 Street photographer Thomas Leuthard’s inimitable style is all about people and their environments, perfectly conveyed by this shot of a boy in Lisbon, Portugal. Here the visual depth generated by the wideangle 17mm 1:1.8 lens helps compose and capture the atmosphere of the shot.

Rich texture and shadow detail captured by landscape and still life photographer Diego Garín Martin in this table-top study with the wider end of the versatile M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 12-50mm zoom lens. A lens that Diego has found rewarding to work with both indoors and out when he’s using his OM-D E-M5.

Photographer Barnaby Robson

Lens M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75mm 1:1.8 Camera OM-D E-M5 Exposure 1/800s Aperture 3.5 ISO 200

28 | 29

One of travel photographer Barnaby Robson’s stunning images from a two week trip to Burma. Taken with the photographer’s self-professed favourite lens, the 75mm 1:1.8 telephoto, his Bagan sunset shot is a beautiful example of the pleasing foreshortening effect of a long lens to produce this dreamlike composition.

Underwater Photographer Takashi Usui Lens M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14‑42mm 1:3.5‑5.6 Camera PEN E-PL1 Focal length 15mm Exposure 1/160s Aperture 9.0 ISO 200 While on a trip to Koh Tao, Thailand, experienced weekend underwater photographer Takashi Usui artfully combined the feeling that you can reach out and touch these fish while simultaneously portraying the endless depths of the ocean. Both effects made possible using a short zoom lens set at a wide angle of 15mm.
