Conclusion: ON is an ocular pathology that can be manifest by a decrease in VA. Optometrists have an important role in identifying the anomaly and refer the patient to the appropriate specialist. After pathology diagnose and treatment, optometrists should be able to read the probes used to establish the diagnose, understand the new limits of patient’s visual system and assist them with best optical correction. This case illustrates the different steps in referral, diagnose and optometric management ending with the prescription of an optical correction that enables the patient to perform day-to-day tasks with minor concern about the pathologic episode.
