NEWHALL BE, HARLOW ALISON BROOKES ARCHITECTS THE PRINCIPLE THE DESIGN IS LIGHT, INTELLIGENT USE OF SPACE AND A SENSE OF CONNECTION. BUILT FROM A SYSTEM OF PREFABRICATED TIMBER CASSETTES AVOID THE NEED FOR ROOF TRUSSES, AND ALLOW THE ROOF TO BE ANGLED TO SUPPORT SOLAR PANELS. THE ANGLE OF THE HOUSES, COMBINED WITH THE INTERIOR LAYOUT ALLOWS EACH HOUSE TO CAPTURE LIGHT FROM DIFFERENT ANGLES.


DEVELOPMENT - INITIAL SCHEME


DEVELOPMENT - DEVELOPED SCHEME AS THE PREVIOUS SCHEME DEVELOPED, IT BECAME CLEAR THAT IT WOULD BE MORE EFFICIENT TO HAVE TWO ROWS OF TERRACES RATHER THAN SIX NARROW TERRACES.

A MODERATE SIZED HOUSE THAT CAN ACCOMMODATE A RANGE OF OCCUPANTS AND NEEDS. A HOME THAT CAN ADAPT AND TRANSFORM AS THE FAMILY GROWS WITH FLEXIBLE SPACES THAT CAN BE USED FOR A ACOMMODATE MULTIPLE NEEDS.


COMMUNAL SPACE

COMMUNAL SPACE CONSISTS OF A SEMI PUBLIC SPACE BETWEEN THE TERRACES THAT ALLOWS FOR GARDENING AND VEGETABLE GROWING TO FACILITATE A SENSE OF COMMUNITY. SEATING AND AREAS FOR CHILD'S PLAY CREATE A SPACE THAT IS ACCESSIBLE FOR ALL RESIDENTS. THE GARDEN SPACE ALSO ACTS AS NATURAL DRAINAGE.

FOUR SOUTH WEST FACING TERRACES LOCATED AT THE LOWER EDGE OF THE SITE. LEVEL ACCESS 2ND FLOOR ENTRANCE WITH FLEXIBLE 2 BED HOUSE BELOW WITH PRIVATE OUTDOOR PATIO CREATED BY NEIGHBOURING TERRACES.

THREE SOUTH WEST FACING TERRACES LOCATED AT THE UPPER EDGE OF THE SITE. LEVEL ACCESS GROUND FLOOR ENTRANCE WITH FLEXIBLE 2 BED HOUSE ABOVE WITH PRIVATE OUTDOOR TERRACE CREATED BY NEIGHBOURING TERRACES.
